• Can't use both of my screens

Every time I start up my computer it's in 640x480 (should be 1680x1050) and I can only get a picture on one of my two screens. If I want it to use both, it either stays on the same screen or changes to the other one. This has been going on for a couple of days, and I fixed it for a while by updating my graphics drivers. The next day, it was like before again. Specs:
Graphics: XFX Radeon HD5770 XXX MoBo: ASUS P7P55D Deluxe (LGA 1156) CPU: Intel Core i5 760 @2.8 GHz OS:Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
Oh, and steam changes to Swedish after every restart.
Are you sure the correct drivers are being used? I have the exact card and this is not being replicated on 11.4 drivers.
Where can I get the correct drivers then?

As for steam, try deleting clientregistry.blob in the Steam folder.
Stupid question but have you changed the screen settings to get the 2 monitors to work or are you just plugging it in?

Nope, now everything is like the first post, excluding steam. :saddowns:
Are you running Windows Live Mesh by any chance? [editline]4th May 2011[/editline] It's also possible you need drivers for that screen.
What's this "Live Mesh"? [editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
It's also possible you need drivers for that screen.
It's worked perfectly before
Before what?
Before a couple of days ago, I guess I said it in the wrong way
Before a couple of days ago, I guess I said it in the wrong way
What have you done in the meantime that might have caused this? (Install software, add/remove hardware etc.)
I don't think I did anything, and if I did I don't remember it
If you haven't installed anything, and you really do not know what you've could've have done, system restore is a more radical approach, and it isn't like it'll fuck you up or take especially long time.
I guess I'll try that. I've used my computer with 2 screens for about a year now and it would be really hard to change back [editline]4th May 2011[/editline] Just saw I only have one restore point, which was made a couple of hours ago for some reason. Is there any way to restore without using a restore point?
Tried booting into safemode?
You did click "Show more restore points"? Or I guess that's what it's called in english.

it wouldn't fix it per-say, but since only the basic necessary drivers are loaded it could mean you've got a driver conflict/problem
Is there any way to fix that?
If it affected both screens, i'd say its some software that's running in compatability mode and forcing that resolution, but i'm not sure if that can affect only the second screen. If you'd boot in safe mode, windows only loads critical drivers and services. If the resolution is fine in safe mode you should check what programs run at boot by pressing Windows + r and typing msconfig, or reinstall/update any video drivers.

OP be sure to click "hide Windows services" when poking around in the msconfig so as to not accidentally remove a windows process or service from booting up.
I'm first going to try a clean install of graphics drivers, and if that doesn't work, I'll try safe mode. [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] The clean install didn't work, so I removed a couple of things from autostart and now it works! Thank you!
