I basically completely stopped using Snapchat the redesign before this one anyway. The second it added the story feature and other crap it basically became a confusing mess of garbage and push notifications to me. I liked it as a service to share a photo or event with someone real quick. I turned off all notifications and only check it like once a month or so now, basically only keep it because friends always want to know if you have one.
snapchat continues to screw us all once again, first it was dicksucking the kardashians, now it's this

The core app functionality is still there and just as easy to use as before. Take a picture, select the people you wanna send to, click send. Story works exactly the same way, but you don't have to utilize it. :s:
i knew something changed with snapchat back when people stopped sending me nudes and instead sent pictures of some bug they found on their front porch what has this world come to
I use it every day and hadn't noticed it changed.
Reminder that iOS gets the updates before android. Android users should expect this update in the coming weeks
Does getting negative app store reviews really indicate anything? Every change gets negative app store reviews even if it's good
I stopped using Snapchat ages ago, Most people I know never put the fucking phone away when Im out and always feel the need to let people KNOW where they are and how there doing with that dumb app, I swear that episode of Black Mirror becomes more true every single day.
If only the android version actually took a picture and not a screenshot of the camera feed
I haven't used Snapchat in months since the novelty of keeping up a streak with my gf wore off and we passed the stage where it was fun to send dick pics.

Snap maps was a little uncomfortable for me because anyone could look at my location, so that's disabled for me 24/7. Snapchat's sucky now, the stories screen is filled with this tabloid clickbait garbage shoved down your throat and tapping through people's stories has a scummy imitation ad every few slides. It's annoying seeing "SNAPCHAT USERS GET FREE AMAZON CARDS CLICK NOW" I think the whole appeal is it's simple. Take a picture, text n caption, draw on it, and send. I'd say most people I come across use it so it's overcome the problem that a good 99% of chat apps have. "I dont have x app, but I have y."

I mean I don't use Snapchat (don't intend to either) but I also hate bloated apps with features I'll never actually use, but it takes up space anyway. A prime example is FB messenger. I only use it for messaging and yet it has all this bullshit about being able to send SMS messages through it, create crappy "my day" updates which no one reads and other shite. I just want to message people! I've got dedicated apps (which I trust more...) for sending SMS messages etc. In this case, they made a "Lite" version of messenger which cuts the crap and just has the messaging feature. Not surprisingly it also cut its size down by ~75% and it even loads faster. If they don't want to lose users (which is happening at the moment) they should have just released the "old" Snapchat as a lite version to keep that crowd happy, and have this new version on the side for those who use that. Everyone's happy!

I'd say snapchat is trying to increase revenue. They've gone from accepting only certain to ads to what seems like garbage scam trick ads.
It was a fun app during its time, I just think its novelty has pretty much worn off I only really use it to quickly send a picture to my friends, but there are many other ways I can do that
Why are you all so negative towards snapchat - literally everyone uses it and it's great for just messing about with friends and hooking up with chicks.
i mean i've never used it for hooking up but yea idk what universe you guys are living in, snapchat is still insanely popular and its one of the main ways i communicate with my friends and vice versa.
Still waiting for the day the android one isn't a complete piece of shit and doesn't drain 3% of my battery instantly just opening it.
Still waiting for the day the android one isn't a complete piece of shit and doesn't drain 3% of my battery instantly just opening it.
My favourite was how it would lock the phone awake and keep draining the battery if you forgot to fully close it Or if it crashed, the process would never die and keep the camera in use, blocking anything from using it until you restarted

Bebo? Same thing. The novelty is wearing off for many, and this is the result.
Still waiting for the day the android one isn't a complete piece of shit and doesn't drain 3% of my battery instantly just opening it.
iirc, the reason the Android snapchat takes such shitty pictures is because instead of utilizing the phones camera features (HDR, etc) it just takes a screenshot of the photo screen. That, and the CEO himself said something along the lines of “I only care for the iPhone version”
Why are you all so negative towards snapchat - literally everyone uses it and it's great for just messing about with friends and hooking up with chicks.
They fuck over android users pretty hard and their stagnation is getting them killed by services like instagram lol
iirc, the reason the Android snapchat takes such shitty pictures is because instead of utilizing the phones camera features (HDR, etc) it just takes a screenshot of the photo screen. That, and the CEO himself said something along the lines of “I only care for the iPhone version”
Yeah, the CEO for Snap is a massive Apple fanbaby. They purposefully put minimal effort into the Android version and still haven't even bothered trying to fix a number of long known bugs with the app (on certain devices using the app has a reasonably high chance of a forced reboot. This doesn't just impact Android phones, but it's more prominent. My Nexus 4 for example would reboot every third time I opened the app if I was unlucky, or just at random if the app was still in the background. The most they did to acknowledge this was a pop-up warning that blamed Android for their mistakes if I recall. The app does a number of things that are generally considered a no-go in Android development like locking the camera resource up super hard, not actually taking a picture, along with a number of potential memory leaks. It's a shame as the app is quite fun to use. But it murders batteries and is just badly made. Despite it all being API driven they refuse to allow third party apps that prove it can be done significantly better.

That, and the CEO himself said something along the lines of “I only care for the iPhone version”
Probably - that same shitbag also contributed to the demise of Windows Phone by not launching it on Windows Phone and actively killing off any attempt for a third party app to use its API. Evan Spiegel, CEO of snapchat, also basically said that they weren't interested in users coming from poor countries like Spain or India.
