A non-profit organization has installed the country’s first-ever crack pipe vending machines in Vancouver in a new bid to halt the spread of disease in the city’s Downtown Eastside.
The Portland Hotel Society has been operating two of the machines – which dispense Pyrex crack pipes in exchange for just $0.25 – in the Washington Market and the PHS’s Drug Users Resource Centre for the last six months.
“For us, this was about increasing access to safer inahalation supplies in the Downtown Eastside,” said Kailin See, director of the DURC.
“We disagree with promoters of this initiative,” Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, said in a statement Saturday, after weekend media reports about the vending machines.
“Drug use damages the health of individuals and the safety of our communities,” Mr. Blaney added. “While the NDP and Liberals would prefer that doctors hand out heroin and needles to those suffering from addiction, this Government supports treatment that ends drug use, including limiting access to drug paraphernalia by young people.”
So this is why Rob Ford was in Vancouver

Here we go!
Personally I think its an interesting idea, though it does seem like it could backfire very easily. I just hate that fucking politician they quoted, they always have to fucking trash someone and push their own agenda:
Oh fuck the liberals they want to hand out heroin to addicts and keep them addicted hurrrrr!!!!
Seriously fuck that guy, he hasn't presented a viable solution that has shown any kind of improvement, what right does he have to criticize? How about find a solution before kicking another person's idea into the dirt before it has even been given a chance.
Rob Ford must've been visiting for the grand opening
I like services like this because of how useful some of the items are.
I got needles at the health centre and they are amazing for mixing warhammer paints in the same amounts over and over.

I'm not sure what you're better off telling to a random person; telling them that you use the needle for drugs or for mixing paint that you need to paint little dudes.

Funk tasting the rainbow, feel the rainbow.

Fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck you phone
pff, I have a better idea than this, just bring back pre 1929 Coca Cola and put them in the vending machines, you don't even need pipes
Warhammer? So that's what the kids are calling it these days.
This is great, distributing needles/pipes at low cost or free reduces the amount of diseases a lot. That also takes a lot of weight off the healthcare because a "healthy" druggie is a cheaper druggie.
Wow I never realized Minister Blaney was such a moron
[editline]11th February 2014[/editline]
Then again the Tory's did try to shut down Insite as well so I suppose I'm not very surprised
But his "NDP and Liberals want your children on drugs" rant was such a fucking joke
Hmmm, thought this machine was going to be located in Toronto.

You'd need to drink ~25 million gallons of pre-1929 coca-cola to get barely 600ths of an ounce of cocaine.

Challenge accepted
It's almost like I'm playing Postal 2.

alright perhaps we should step it up with the coke mixed in, I still think it's a better idea
Now unban Marmite and Irn-Bru, then we'll talk.

It wasn't banned in the first place, that was a mistake. The guy had meat in his shipment, it was held up because of that, not because of the Marmine or Irn-Bru.

Meat that was missing the necessary documentation, no less. The "Marmite is banned in Canada" shit was the guy whose shipment was interrupted jumping to conclusions and throwing a big drama fit for a reporter to write about.

Uhg, now it's either stay in weedland or move to cracktown when I have the ability to make a housing decision.
Unless I just go to the UK, that is.

Oh, the more you know.
maybe this will cut down on people breaking off antennas, too
Fuck that, don't help those fucking cockroaches.
Just let them burn out till they're gone instead of wasting good tax dollars on garbage.
Fucking idiot's keeps trying to look after the wrong eggs in the basket. Crack heads and junkies don't deserve compassion, they deserve a bullet between the eyes.
