A nine-year-old US girl has accidentally killed an Arizona shooting instructor as he was showing her how to use an automatic Uzi.
Charles Vacca, 39, died on Monday shortly after being airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Mohave County sheriff's officials said on Tuesday.
Vacca was standing next to the girl at the Last Stop outdoor shooting range in White Hills when she pulled the trigger and the recoil sent the gun over her head, investigators said.

Why did a 9yo have an Uzi?!
Reminds of some story of a little kid that managed to kill themselves with an Uzi or Mac 11 or something due to the recoil and muzzle flip or something.
Why did they think it was a good idea to show a child how to use a gun? Not like they're going to be able to understand how dangerous it is.
Thats why you move the crosshair down

There's nothing wrong with teaching a 9-year-old how to handle a firearm as long as they are mature and responsible enough for it.
That said, a 9-year-old should be started on a .22 rifle, not a full-auto Uzi.

A child can safely shoot a .22LR gun, and is a good way to teach about gun safety.
Giving a nine-year-old an automatic 9mm. SMG, on the other hand...

I've been to the shooting range and it's not uncommon to see parents bring their kids along to teach them how to handle a gun.
Granted, it's usually a .22 rifle or something, not an automatic fucking uzi. I can't imagine how much of an inbred imbecile you have to be to give a nine year old girl an automatic weapon and let her fire it all by herself.

you know, i don't know what it is about that gun, but when i was a kid it was the same way, i had a friend who was absolutely obsessed with guns, and that was the gun he would always talk about

I was more of an MP5 guy.

Because 9 year olds have no concept of reality.
jail
I'm not sure what benefit teaching a 9 year old how to use an uzi is but it doesn't sound right
clearly he wasn't a very good instructor
The concept of giving a 9 year old a real gun containing live ammunition is so alien to me, I cannot comprehend why on earth you'd need to.
I realise that gun culture is very much a thing in the states though, it's just so very different to how things are over here in the UK that it's hard to get my head around sometimes.
I totally agree with what the others have said though; why you would give her an Uzi instead of something a bit more... manageable, I don't know.
Death penalty when
How about just give her an airsoft gun?
Nope, this is America, we gots to start em off right! That means defendin our terrtory from illegal aliens with fully automatic weapons, startin as young as 9 years old!
God bless Aruzina.
I find it hard to believe that children, especially that young, have the emotional and mental maturity to handle lethal weapons. Why can't they stick to airsoft and the like?
Man, I get trying to teach a kid how to shoot but a fucking Uzi is not the way to go. One, it's a small automatic machine pistol that should be handled by somebody at least mostly fully grown (they kick, a lot) and two, you should teach using a bolt-action or another single-shot action because of this very fucking reason. :l
The concept of giving a 9 year old a real gun containing live ammunition is so alien to me, I cannot comprehend why on earth you'd need to.

Here, it's a "eh, not a big deal," thing and that's the short and long of it, there isn't a reason exactly, it's just not terribly daunting for us. I sometimes wonder what it's like to be in your shoes, and to wonder what it's like to be in mine. What misconceptions do you have about me and my lifestyle? What misconceptions do you think I have about you? Do you think that I even think about them?
Different cultures are interesting. :D

By her age, I was shooting 20 gauge shotguns, my dad's 30-30 lever action, and .22 rifles were like BB guns. To say a 9 year old can't handle the weapon is false. However, they haven't acquired the necessary knowledge to be able to EFFECTIVELY handle things like machine pistols. My question is why did he load the magazine with so many bullets? It should have been a gradual system: 1 bullet, then two, then three, etc.... You have to ease into things like that.
I feel sorry for the girl, she's old enough to know what death is so she knows she killed someone.
She'll have to live with it for the rest of her life, and even face consequences right now for it. Honestly At 17 I don't think i could handle the guilt of knowing I ended another's life. I can't imagine it at 9.

Honestly, guns exist, and gun safety isn't a bad thing to teach in the least, even if you never plan on owning one or using one, always good to know the basics of how not to hurt or kill someone with it.
That being said, an uzi, really, I mean if you want to teach gun safety, I say use a good pellet gun or an airsoft gun, either one should have everything you need to learn how to handle a gun safely, now for actual shooting, for for a .22 rifle like everyone says here

Most adults can't even compensate for recoil on a full-auto weapon. Why did this guy think it was a good idea to give a small child one...
The police released this video of the girl shooting, but the instructor getting shot was edited out.

I actually cringed. Oh god that's horrible. :(
This is fucking retarded. My parents taught me to shoot on a bolt action .22lr when I was 9. That's what you're supposed to learn on.
A fucking 9mm automatic is dumb as hell. 9mm has a shitload of recoil when it's automatic, and a child could never handle that much recoil.

it's terrible in all but how did he not see the recoil coming?
on the range i go to two people are never even allowed to be standing near each other if the other's firing. maybe outdoor ranges are different but idk, this whole thing looks like it could have been easily avoided
a 9 year old girl has no reason to be shooting full auto in the first place though

you just showed how incredibly ignorant (and arrogant) you are of a country containing more than 300 million people so nice job on that one ace
The concept of not giving a child a real gun containing live ammo is so alien to me. Many a day my father would bring me out back and we'd shoot for hours, perfecting technique and just in general bonding as father and son. Done correctly, practicing marksmanship is wonderful for creating confidence, and a lasting bond between child and parent.
well it is preferable to being molested
