It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.”

. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide.
Hands up if anyone was surprised at this.
I hadn't seen the Xbox One's sold out in any of the stores I went to over the holidays. As a matter of fact, I counted at least 20-25 at one store while they had 0 PS4s.
It doesn't help that the PS4 is nearly double the price of the Xbox One in Brazil.
Isnt that like a shit number considering 360 sold 7 million during its release and like 30-31 million after a couple of years?

PS4's are only in stock at my best buy ever 2 weeks or so and they only send in 60-70 PS4's. It's not because they're selling like hotcakes, it's because it's impossible to fucking get one.
Isnt that like a shit number considering 360 sold 7 million during its release and like 30-31 million after a couple of years?
The Xbox 360 only sold around 1.5m units by the end of 2005, so the One is doubling that.
The Xbox One also has an absurd price. Brazil also has a small gaming community so I don't see your point at all.

The Brazilian games market is growing at a rapid pace. It generated $ 2.6bn of revenues in 2012 (up 32% from 2011) with the total number of gamers at 40.2 million. Brazil has full potential to be the largest market for games in Latin America, a position currently occupied by Mexico. According to Daniel Cervantes, director of games and entertainment division of Microsoft for Latin America, Brazil occupies the 15th position in world ranking of videogames, with 600 thousand consoles sold annually.
Yeah... Tiny...
Good to see the new consoles doing well. The last thing we need is another Wii U situation.
Good for you MS, I guess.
In case you haven't heard the taxes on foreign made electronics in Brazil are insanely high, 8th generation consoles aren't going to make any real money in Brazil for a long time, not until both companies negotiate with the government and the prices of manufacturing those consoles lowers. Regardless both the US and western Europe are far larger markets than Brazil, and far easier to sell units in. P.S. 600k consoles sold annually isn't that much, that's split up amongst ALL consoles, they're not going to start magically selling 600k PS4s in brazil annually.
But it's the fastest growing market in the world so they are going to spend disproportionately more on the newer hardware, and 600k is a huge number if you think about all possible console sales. Maybe they aren't determining the market, but I wouldn't call Brazil a "small gaming community" If xbox one has a hold in Brazil then that could easily be indicative of them having a lead in Brazil for the future, meaning microsoft will make a lot of money if current trends continue.
Your argument makes no sense, if the PS4 wasn't selling well then their stock wouldn't sell out soon after getting a new shipment, there being a ton of spare Xbox Ones lying around this close to it's launch is very bad, it means they've completely botched their logistics and shipped far too many units to places where they won't sell instead of places where they will sell, there's nothing gained by having a couple hundred Xbox Ones sitting in your local Best Buy's storage.
the point is: • Microsoft is pumping out a ton of units to locations • Sony is not maintaining constant stock due to shipping less often, thus stores run out of stock before more come a whole ton of ice cream cones over time or a big bowl of ice cream every now and again, it's all getting eaten. They're both in demand but there's a huge overflow of XB units in a lot of places because they're shipping out so many This could be a result of: • overestimating their demand and zealously shipping units to fill it (cue people who write "M$" unironically) • Just having the capacity to build and ship more units, and they don't care about overstocking because they know they'll sell eventually

But how many countries have access to Xbone versus ps4

[editline]7th January 2014[/editline] i just dont think the reason ps4s tend to be out of stock is because theyre shipped at weird times or whatnot.
Are they counting all the Xbox Ones that they were giving away in these numbers? It seemed like every company was giving them away.

[editline]7th January 2014[/editline] i just dont think the reason ps4s tend to be out of stock is because theyre shipped at weird times or whatnot.
this can also be true, selling as soon as they produce. At least the units are being manufactured at a profit this time around, no? Hopefully that'll help up their efforts over time.
Are they counting all the Xbox Ones that they were giving away in these numbers? It seemed like every company was giving them away.
companies pay for the units and give them away. They earn their money back from the added attention, just like putting out ads and commercials. Sometimes the return on giveaways is worth way more dollar for dollar than plain advertising. Similar to point reward programs, where there's tons of free stuff to potentially get, but you have to spend a ton more at a store to get to that point. It's business you may have spent at a competitor, but now that there's a carrot dangling on a string you'll go out of your way to shop at their store.

It's entirely possible that they have roughly the same manufacturing numbers, but MS is able to stock stores better because they have less stores to stock.

The Xbone won't even come here until a year after the PS4. So not only is the PS4 always sold out, the Xbone isn't even available. :v:

[editline]8th January 2014[/editline] I mean, I have no allegiances here. I own both consoles.
i want to know if anyone got an ouya for christmas

It's no wonder we get "only" 600k s/y.
