Turkish trans activist raped, put in prison cell with attackers
A trans and sex work rights activist was raped and robbed in their home in Ankara, Turkey last week.
Turkish activist Kemal Ördek answered their door yesterday to two men who forced their way into the home last Sunday (26 July). Ördek was robbed of their mobile phone and raped.
After the sexual assault, the two strangers went to an ATM and forced Ördek to withdraw money. Ördek caught sight of a police officer and tried to explain the situation.
The three were then taken into custody. Ördek, the alleged rapist and accomplice were kept together in the same holding area.
In a blog post on the website LGBTI News Turkey, Ördek said they threatened murder if the charges weren’t dropped. ‘Drop this case. You know what will happen if you don’t. We know where you live now.’
Either way, it would be nice to have another, independent, source, shithole country or not.
Turkey has some sweet censorship going so I really wouldn't be surprised if that story was just too hot to pick up if you value your journalist job.

The internet laws they have are absolutely absurd.
Why does the concept of someone being gay/bi/transgendered make some people want to go as far as to raping and threatening to kill said person?
Wtf?!
Why does the concept of someone being gay/bi/transgendered make some people want to go as far as to raping and threatening to kill said person?
Challenges their own sexuality, which they never have even questioned because of what is told them throughout their whole lives is right and wrong and that absolutely terrifies them.

Yes. It deals with news more relevant to LGBTQ stuff. Just like the BBC specialises with British stuff and Fox News specialises with angering old people.
Even the most bigoted asshole would say this is messed up. Why couldn't they put them in different cells or maybe open up the interrogation room given the circumstances?

It seems rather clear that Turkey is one of those countries where even the law enforcement has it out for transgenders. The rest of the article says the victim was only given a statement that supported the rapists' version of events to sign, and when the victim refused, they dropped all charges and let them go. Very disappointing, but telling.
It is so sad to see what Turkey has become over the last century. It started so promising under Ataturk.

No its not.

Yeah, it's not great.

I think gaystarnews also specializes in angering old people, to be fair.
No its not.
I dunno, they've got a ways to go before they reach western standards.

I am writing as a transgender and sex worker.
I am writing as a right defender.
I am writing as one of the streets in awe.
Sweat is getting, I get nervous. I can not move without someone with me. I feel under house arrest for 12 days. One of the perpetrators of yesterday, I saw when I go out with my friends, I came running home. Like everywhere. I try to be away from the eyes, they roam their hands waving his arms. In fairness, they say.
Özgecan comes to mind. Everyone is poured onto the tongue, where networks, laments that oil ... They took us Özgecan. Just like all the other women they receive from us. Previously silent haze of Turkey, stood up, took to the streets. He heard the pain, shaking. We shaking.
With us we had another story ... who has suffered for years with no foreign Özgecan raped and murdered sex workers and transgender we all remember.
Münevver Khan yesterday, killing plucked from the head of the body winced when Turkey. However, a week after a trans woman, a sex worker was found in a dumpster at the beginning separated the body and shield everyone to stand up for Münevver, was nobody from nowhere. Countries severed head murder of trans women sex workers were left alone again.
I didn't quote the whole thing, so it's up to you to translate the rest.
