• My friends are suing someone, and I need advice.

Okay, so my friends (both female, ages 15 and 13) are suing someone (male, age 17) for child-on-child sexual abuse, providing alcohol to minors, and psychological trauma. At the time of the first incident (Summer 2009), the first girl was 14 and he was 16. In her recollection of the events, she was guilted into going over to the defendant's house. From there, he proceeded to intoxicate her and then had sexual relations with her. The second girl was 13 at the time (earlier this year) and he was 17. She's most likely going to charge him with hebephilia as well (a sexual interest in children in their first years of puberty). With her, she denied the alcohol he offered her, and she also attempted to resist his sexual actions, to which in her statement, he replied "No one's gonna hear you, we're in the basement". Both girls are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by psychological trauma, depression, and after the events had an addiction to alcohol for the following several months. The first girl has also attempted suicide on multiple occasions. What I need to know (since they're having me help with the case, like hiring a lawyer and writing the summary of what happened to avoid any exaggerations or misinterpreted info) is what type of lawyer should we look for, and how much should he be charged for? None of us have ever sued anyone before and we don't know what would be a sensible amount. Also, what advice can you offer me or them when going into a situation like this? I've never set foot in a court room before and I'm not sure what to expect. Any advice would be helpful.
Christ, that sucks. Not to sound mean, but how are you involved in the whole thing?
Snip, too mean.
Convert them to communism.
Not this shit again... [editline]10:27PM[/editline] HAHA, gotcha.
Sounds like two sluts trying to get dildo money.
Christ, that sucks. Not to sound mean, but how are you involved in the whole thing?
The first girl's my best friend and I've been helping her the past year with dealing with some of the stuff. Also, I know some stuff about law, and if worst comes to worst, I'm gonna be representing them in court.
Convert them into communism.
I know that's what you posted. Stop saying that
Snip, too mean.
username fits
I'm aware thats what i posted, but i snipped it after reading the thread properly.
You aren't going to find a good AND cheap lawyer, but you DO need a lawyer. The phone book is your friend.
I'm gonna be representing them in court.
Hahahaa, no. Don't do this man. Stay the fuck out of it.
Man the fuck up and kill that guy.
Hahahaa, no. Don't do this man. Stay the fuck out of it.
Well if for some reason we can't get a lawyer, it may come to that. I don't want it to, and I really doubt it'll have to come to that, but in a worst case scenario, I will.
Phone the police, get their parents involved - stop trying to deal with it on your own? :downs:

As far as I know you can't sue someone who is a minor, you have to sue their parents since they are responsible for the child. Also you can't just sue someone because of regret. You can't willingly do something then turn around and not like it then sue the person. You're retarded
Phone the police, get their parents involved - stop trying to deal with it on your own? :downs:
We're getting their parents involved, but it's not like they can go "Hey, stuff happened and I ended up fucking a guy, call the cops." :downs:

Intoxicating a minor, by force, is illegal. You sir, are retarded.
She's most likely going to charge him with hebephilia
My mind is full of fuck. So in your world you can "charge" someone with some random fetish? (that its pretty obvious this kid doesn't even have) I'm gonna charge you with a foot fetish! what now!?
a 12 year old can't be a lawyer.
Good thing you're not trying to be a lawyer then.
Also this lawsuit is stupid as fuck. As far as I know you can't sue someone who is a minor, you have to sue their parents since they are responsible for the child.
That's kind of bullshit. Minors can be sued and if you think that they can't, you're a dumbass.
Also you can't just sue someone because of regret. Just cause someone regrets something, you can't just "blow the rape whistle" and go hurp well I regret what I did so he actually raped me. also you know you usually don't wait 12 months before suing/charging someone with something that requires EVIDENCE

" minors cannot sue another person (or defend himself/herself against another lawsuit) on their own." regarding suing someone
We're getting their parents involved, but it's not like they can go "Hey, stuff happened and I ended up fucking a guy, call the cops." :downs:
Let them deal with it then - christ. :downs:
Well the lawyers probably depend on region, so asking Facepunch for that isn't very clever, though I think most good lawyers help you with all documents, needed info and the like. Oh and where are the parents in all of this?
Don't be such dicks guys, for godssake.
oh my fuck this thread is making me laugh

Also just because they're minors doesn't mean anything. there's a limit on the age difference. 13 and 17 qualifies there. Also, getting a girl drunk and having sex can be considered rape (first girl) and saying no, but the guy continuing (second girl) is pretty much the definition of rape. We're trying to get together as much info as we can before they tell them. Also, I wasn't asking about specific lawyers, just like, what type of lawyer they'd be considered, since there are certain firms dealing with automotive cases and stuff like that. [editline]03:54PM[/editline]
Let them deal with it then - christ. :downs:
Well, they're my friends and they asked me for help. I'm not gonna just say "figure it out yourselves".
I can state I came to your house and made you bake me a cake then I punched you in the face. Does my statement hold any validity? no. regardless of if its true or false it has NO backing "limit on age difference" Where in BlueFlash's magic world? They are both minors it is pretty black and white here. You don't report a rape 1 year after the fact, lacking any evidence other then a statement that could be entirely made up in the first place. Really the best thing to do is tell your friends to suck it up, forget about it, and learn from it cause really they can't do shit.

[editline]08:57PM[/editline] ps this is stupid
