Real-life superheroes with names like Vortex, Midnight Highwayman and Fallen Boy patrol San Diego's streets at night armed with radios, first aid kits and self-defence weapons. The Xtreme Justice League have a serious task at hand: they walk through dark, empty streets, check in on the homeless and even break up fights in their effort to stop violent crime in the city. The league was started by Mr Xtreme in 2006. "I do this to make a difference. We have about 20 members that are committed to stopping crime and violence, making a difference, raising awareness and spreading good will in the community", he said. "I've actually saved a life volunteering, so I know from true experience that what we do is very valuable and meaningful. If I was not there, this person might not have lived. So even if some people might think it's ridiculous, I know it's not." Vortex says: "If there's a situation and the cops are not present we could always do a citizens' arrest or defuse the situation. We are the eyes and ears of the streets." Reuters photographer Mike Blake spent time patrolling the streets of San Diego with the Xtreme Justice League.
[t]http://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/1406699/xtreme-justice-league-san-diego.jpg[/t] More pics in source http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/xtreme-justice-league-real-life-superheroes-fight-crime-streets-san-diego-1472158
its just like kickass 2
[t]http://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/1406695/xtreme-justice-league-san-diego-midnight-highwayman.jpg[/t] What I like is that they're all bringing cameras with them. Say what you will about this type of act, at least they're willing to record evidence of everything they do.
Watch the documentary, Superheroes, on Netflix. Mr. Xtreme and other "superhero" groups are covered in it. XJL didn't really blow up until after that movie, but you get good insight on these people's beliefs. They may seem a little "unhinged," but they're people who at least try to make a difference. Mr. Xtreme (I think it's him that talks about this...) talks about how he bases his belief system in "fighting crime" on the murder of Kitty Genovese, a woman who was attacked while many watched on and did not even attempt to help; closing curtains, ignoring her cries.
How long until Mega 64 gets involved in this? They are the true super heroes of San Diego. Those costumes are also goofy, especially the shinny gold cape. Lets give them to everyone

The ones with capes... That sounds like a really bad idea if you're going to be in a fight.
Later investigation by police and prosecutors revealed that approximately a dozen (but almost certainly not the 38 cited in the Times article) individuals nearby had heard or observed portions of the attack, though none saw or was aware of the entire incident. Only one witness, Joseph Fink, was aware she was stabbed in the first attack, and only Karl Ross was aware of it in the second attack. Many were entirely unaware that an assault or homicide was in progress; some thought what they saw or heard was a lovers' quarrel, a drunken brawl, or a group of friends leaving the bar when Moseley first approached Genovese.
Edit; Almost forgot, the attack occured between 3:15AM and about 4:10AM. Edit 2; Keep forgetting things.
None of the witnesses observed the attacks in their entirety. Because of the layout of the complex and the fact that the attacks took place in different locations, no witness saw the entire sequence of events. Most only heard portions of the incident without realizing its seriousness, a few saw only small portions of the initial assault, and no witnesses directly saw the final attack and rape, in an exterior hallway. Additionally, after the initial attack punctured her lungs, leading to her eventual death from asphyxiation, it is unlikely that Genovese was able to scream at any volume.
So, yeah, very different from how you described it.

Thanks for the clarification. Edit 2; Edit 3
The ones with capes... That sounds like a really bad idea if you're going to be in a fight.
It just reminds me of that one character in watchmen who got his cape stuck in a revolving door during a heist and got shot dead. If you're going to be all vigilante the least you can do is wear an outfit that makes sense.

Uhhh I want to make that here too
Capes don't look good in real life Also some of them could stand to lose some weight if they plan on fighting crime
Capes don't look good in real life Also some of them could stand to lose some weight if they plan on fighting crime
Except weight is a big part of fights. Outweighing is just as dangerous as outmaneuvering.
Capes don't look good in real life Also some of them could stand to lose some weight if they plan on fighting crime
From how the article puts it, they sound more like a neighborhood watch than vigilante justice fighters. Their presence is meant to prevent or defuse things they happen upon while patrolling.
[t]http://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/1406699/xtreme-justice-league-san-diego.jpg[/t]
Fear not, we come from the Internet.
Wasn't that in Watchmen
Look up "bystander effect" and "Murder of Kitty Genovese".
I remember a video on YouTube where some guy dressed as a superhero and all he does was to give out chocolates to people. Wtf. I can't seem to find it though
So how long until they turn out like Samurai Flamenco?
So how long until they turn out like Samurai Flamenco?
More like how long until they meet a gang member with a gun and their whole shitty daydream turns into a nightmare.
The Superheroes documentry this guy was in provides major insight on these groups, most of them aren't real 'superheroes' in a traditional sense, I remember one guy (can't recall his name) had a van full of supplies and helped the homeless and others in need.
Isn't this the plot of Kick Ass 2?
Except weight is a big part of fights. Outweighing is just as dangerous as outmaneuvering.
Null point if you can't land run a few blocks without getting tired Or are they just superheroes with the power of pepper spray
Wonder what kind of weapons they carry though...
Looks like dude with the American flag is carrying an extendable nightstick.
