BBC http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-33520935
Mozilla, which develops Firefox, imposed the block because recently unearthed bugs in Flash were being actively used by cyber-thieves. The bugs were detailed in a cache of documents stolen from security firm Hacking Team that was hit by attackers last week.
Probably a good idea to disable flash on other browsers too. Gives me nostalgia thinking about flash, it's the program I mastered first and loved making little animations and games in it. I guess it's on it's deathbed at this point.
Good. Flash needs to die.
I noticed. Even after updating it still gets blocked good riddance
To disable it in chrome, you go to chrome://plugins right?
Chrome should disable it too.
We have an internal web app at work that requires flash and a specific version of Java 6. It's accounting software. It needs root java access to draw a table. Yes, the developers are that incompetent.
Shame that some of the web is still dependent upon flash whether it be old swf games, etc.
I don't care about the vulnerability, how do I force it on? That toolbar showing up on every site telling me flash is disabled is really annoying
Every time Opera detects there's a flash update, it immediately disallows loading older version. At this point I only keep it for twitch.tv
Oh, that's why it keeps blocking clips.
Flash was such a magical thing back in the early-mid 2000s though. It was so lightweight for what you got. Nice smooth animations and games backed by a pretty powerful programming language. It's definitely out of date and a resource hog compared to today's standards, but I'll miss it's wacky charm. It got me my current job because I made a really crazy animated flash website, which I made in like 12 hours due to how easy it was to program animations in it. RIP
I don't care about the vulnerability, how do I force it on? That toolbar showing up on every site telling me flash is disabled is really annoying
Clicking "allow" on the bar then "allow and remember" on the pop-up will disable the bar and enable flash permanently.
Good. Flash needs to die.
A significant amount of the internet still uses it whether or not it's inferior.
You're only really vulnerable if your version of Flash is harshly outdated.
So that's why I couldn't watch porn.....
Every time Opera detects there's a flash update, it immediately disallows loading older version. At this point I only keep it for twitch.tv
Twitch needs to switch to HTML5 already
Clicking "allow" on the bar then "allow and remember" on the pop-up will disable the bar and enable flash permanently.
That's just for the current site, though, but thanks anyway
So that's why I couldn't watch porn.....
Use porn sites that are up to date with modern tech?
Twitch needs to switch to HTML5 already
I'm sure they would if browsers actually supported HLS: http://www.jwplayer.com/html5/hls/ [editline]14th July 2015[/editline] wtf since when have I been a gold member
That title.. Flash isn't blocked by default, Flash Player Plugin 18.0.0.203 and below have been blocked by default because they contain known security issues. As soon as a new version of flash will be released, without the known security issues, the plugin will be accepted again.
A new update is already out, which should be accepted again. See also https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p946 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182751 [editline]14th July 2015[/editline] Whoops, 30 seconds too slow
There has to be an addon to just straight-out prevent Firefox from blocking my shit. I'm not THAT retarded. You aren't my mom, Mozilla.
Don't actually do this.
I have adblock which is enough to protect me against flash elements with potentially malicious code inside them, I seriously doubt the players on youtube, soundcloud and twitch are harmful in any way
I have adblock which is enough to protect me against flash elements with potentially malicious code inside them, I seriously doubt the players on youtube, soundcloud and twitch are harmful in any way
Youtube player uses HTML5 these days if I am fully sure.
You're only really vulnerable if your version of Flash is harshly outdated.
No, even the most recent version of flash up until last Wednesday was vulnerable to 4 known 0days. The current version of flash is vulnerable to at least 2 more 0days discovered by researchers from the hackingteam release this week, and I would bet there are still more undiscovered amongst the hackingteam release.
I use flashcontrl on Chrome, flash things only run when I click them
If flash gets disabled by default webmail services like hotmail, yahoo etc. wont let you upload more than 600kb as an attachment.
If flash gets disabled by default webmail services like hotmail, yahoo etc. wont let you upload more than 600kb as an attachment.
HTML5 file api supports chunged upload. They should use that.
my job's scheduling software, i shit you not, runs entirely on flash player. it's the only way to see what days i'm working and to request time off.
I'm sure they would if browsers actually supported HLS: http://www.jwplayer.com/html5/hls/
That's because Apple HLS isn't part of the HTML5 specification, it's yet another proprietary software system that Apple has pushed. Its up to the browser manufacturers if they wish to support it or not. There are other ways to livestream video via HTML5 that does not require HLS.
