Wait, Dota 2 isn't "following" League's design. It's almost identical design-wise to Warcraft Dota, which League was based off. Or am I wrong?

You're right.

You are correct, the person who created league of legends was the second Dota developer back on Warcraft 3.

They are two completely different games.
If anything it would be the other way around, dota has been there long before lol.

dammit
This title is something you expect on a teen magazine.
the moba that's right for me is the one without a complex meta or a rude community :saddowns:

Heroes of the Storm is the closest to both of those criterias.

Yeah, pretty easy to get into, plus I've had fun on it with mates.
Pro Tip: Get a friend, make sure he has Cho'Gal, and play that hero together. Loadse fun on skype.

Smite is also incredibly fun and easy to pick up and play, as well as having a wide variety of modes/maps that many people play exclusively, such as 5v5 ARAM, 3v3 one lane, 4v4 two lane, 5v5 two lane, 5v5 arena, as well as the standard 3 lane push map which has the meta. Also match of the day with varying modifiers on different modes.
You meet a lot of toxic players just like any other game, but hey that's what the mute button is for.
I will always remember one of the first times I touched LoL. I shit you not, in the first 3 seconds of the match, some guy was already shitting on me for not moving to the the right spot (jungle or some shit)
Heroes of the Storm is the closest to both of those criterias.
i gotta say i honestly enjoyed playing heroes of the storm with my friends
i saved quite a few of them sometimes with lili too, so that's a big plus. don't really have to do anything as her, just spam healing items all the time, and use the jug ult when it's needed, so no pressure when playing as her. just gotta make sure you're in the right position at the right time, which isn't that hard, i think.
I enjoy Dota 2, I like the characters the gameplay, the design all that. And best of all is that I don't have to pay money to keep up with the meta. I might actually be interested in League if not for that fact that I'd have to pay money to keep up with the meta, and that I find Riot to be a disgusting company.
Smite and Heroes are the MOBAs that aren't for sociopaths. That's my take at least.
dota 2 when i want to play a moba, hots when i want to fuck around.

Its based on the order they are written about in the article, not how they where released.
Seeing your game go from mod development to filling stadiums and influencing the entire game industry must be unfathomable to experience

And look at how much money it prints.
HotS and Smite
b/c they aren't frustrating piles of garbage
doto to
I played hundreds of hours of Dota, HoN, and Dota 2 but I've settled on Heroes of the Storm. It's a massively less complex game but it's just damn fun. I find it really hard to pick Dota 2 back up because short games of that last as long as long games of HotS.
HotS is the most fun but Dota 2 is the best designed in my opinion. Haven't played Smite and dropped LoL pretty quickly.
I have friends who play Dota 2, League, and Smite, and as such I also play all of them.
And I can tell you in full confidence that none of them are worth your time.
I still love Dota 2 even though i don't have it installed right now, but God DAMN i wish they would dial back the vanity cancer, or at least make it optional to see. I really would prefer if there was an an option to see the original hero models. And it's such a shame that Valve allows the compendium quests in ranked, which to me is the cosmetics bleeding over and totally compromising the gameplay. I might just try Warcraft 3 Dota if it persists.
Gigantic is pretty good, needs a bit more substance but right now for a closed beta (and an actual beta at that, none of that "here's the finished game with a few bugs but we're just gonna call it a beta".

It's more akin to Super Monday Night Combat but without the creeps.
Of all the isometric mobas, Dota is the only one that sticks with me. LoL and HotS feel kind of "lacking" compared to it, imo.
Though, I've put much more time into Smite and Awesomenauts than those games. I've been playing Smite since mid-2012.
