Some Pokémon X and Y players reporting game-breaking save bug

A small number of Pokémon X and Y gamers are reporting that saving in a certain area of the world causes the game to freeze, and rebooting the 3DS does not fix the issue. After the initial bug, the game loads the save and then immediately freezes again.
The Pokémon trainers reporting this bug claim that it happens when saving in the outside streets area of Lumiose City, one of the major hubs. The error causes Pokémon X or Y to hard-lock, and the player can only regain control of the system by holding down the power button.
Hopefully they have this patched by the time I'm able to get this game.
Just thought I'd spread the word to warn fellow Pokemon players.

In other words, to be able to play your game again, you have to start over completely.
I'd understand if it was in a secluded location, but in one of the major hubs?
Somebody didn't do enough testing
Good thing the 3DS has a patch system now though, but anyone without internet is fucked
This bug effects both digital and physical copies.
(Sorry for the multi merged posts, I can't edit, it deletes the entire OP)
I feel super sorry for people without internet connections who own Pokemon X or Y right now

Sure I have both... but not wifi.
There is a workaround I have seen posted, make sure wifi is off, start the game, and while trying to load the save rapidly press the home button until you can see your character.
i wonder if they'll ship out physical patching station things like they did with ruby/sapphire and the berry glitch
that way people without internet can fix it, too
Another reason to hate the town...seriously though, i know Gamefreak wanted to show off more impressive 3D, but the Routes that lead up to Castelia City Pokemon BW shown that off very well, but in XY, it's all condensed and everything feels out of place, it's quite easy to get lost, ironically Lumiose City feels less sparce compared to Castelia.
People would probably hate it more even before any major plot, and opting for a specific sidequest where you [sp]talk to some punk in the Lost Hotel who tells you're not "dressed cool enough", yet the real thing is talking to a few arbitrary skaters in the town, with no clothes being involved at all...bad luck for any people who wandered back and forth, coughing up pokedollars for clothes.[/sp], was the spoiler a bit too weird? it gets weirder... [sp]the Punk's boss isn't a Skater nor another Punk, it's some old guy skater who teaches you a trick, the only reason you'll want to reach him is to access another potential trash can for Rotom...and that TM (if i recall) behind a rocksmashable wall[/sp]

I have both, but my 3DS can't connect to the wifi I get in my dorm.
I saved in this spot last night when I decided to call it for a night.
Shit.
Losing a Pokemon save is the worst thing ever.
I miss my Pokemon Silver team.
Apparently there are multiple ways to attempt to fix this, from booting XY w/o the SD card in the 3DS to just mashing the home button a few times.
Just don't save by the taxis.
In the comments it said its only certain language versions of the game? has it been happening on EU / USA cartridges too?

I work on submarines, we don't get internet.
Wait, X and Y is out?!
So where is a safe place to save? Out on the Routes?
I'm happy I never saved in Lumiose then.
Best thing you can do is go in the city for business (or story related reasons) then as soon as you are able, get out and save. The further you are from the city, the better off you are.
my pokemon red's cartridge battery died I found out when I dug it up.
my beautiful venusaur is DEAD
I really need to hustle to get a 3DS for this game too.
I lost my 30+ hour save the other night because of this bug.
I lost my 30+ hour save the other night because of this bug.
Ouch....have a heart.
I just crossed the 30 hour mark myself. Best possible thing you can do is avoid this city like the plague, but unfortunately there are quite a few story related missions that need to be done there. All I can tell y'all is to never get comfortable in that city. Finish whatever business you are doing there, and get the hell out of dodge ASAP.
The more distance you can put between yourself and Lumiose, the better off you will be.

Pokemon Centers are okay too.
Just like the good old days!
Oh god, I saved in Lumiose City and now I'm too worried to load it up again.

I'm fine!
