TIME TRAVEL:
My friend had a theory once:
"There is no limit how fast matter can go in vaccum. And some people say that the speed when time stands still, is in the middle of the max speed and 0 km/h. But since there is no limit for travel speed; there is no middle. So basiccly time travel is impossible."
The vaccum part is correct as far as the scientists have encounterd there is no speed limit for matter in vaccum and/or space. They have yet not tried this. But they are 90% sure that formations of matter (Planets or rocks) are circuling around planets by their gravitation force and reaches the speed of light and disappears from sight as it travells back in time.
This could-, could not be wrong:
1. Theories says that when matter travels in the speed of light (299'792'458 m/s) it stands still in time. Greater than the speed of light = time goes backwards.

This explains that travelling forward in time needs matter to move in negative speed; wich is impossible. Moving negatively != possible.
2. Theories also says that 'aliens' bend time. Making a long path short.

We would be there in notime!
3. There are also theories of time machines:

Today, the first ever time machine was invented! It's a stationary machine and teleports objects back to the past!
This is because the future does not exist.
As soon as the first tim machine will be invented: it will start recieving objects, because lets say:
The time machine sends back objects 24 hours. If they decide to put an object in the time machine in 24 hours; The object will pop out when they are talking. and if they decide to put it in an object, 48 hours from now; they will recieve it in 12 hours. But, what if they put something in right now; they would send it back to yesterday, when the time machine didn't exist :psyduck:. "What would happend then?", you ask. They would bend time and we would'nt exist anymore. And THAT is the problem about time travelling.
Tip: Time is the 4'th dimension!
Tip: If you are late to work: Drive fast. At least 100 km/h, or else it wont give any effect!
Tip: If you are stressed: Don't move. Time goes faster if you stand completely still!
WARNING: Don't even try to travel in time. It will go wrong.
Post your comments and theories!

Oh, it's this thread again.
yo
you sayin aliens are benders?
haters gonna hate
Someone watched "Into the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman: Is time travel possible?" last night.

So, you're basically just reiterating that time is relative to the individual observing it? Hence why to some people time can "fly by" , whereas to others it seems to stand infinitely still. Nothing new there.
Op, please stop posting until you learn what the word theory means.
This is ridiculous...

tell your friend to read up on special and general relativity
Greater than the speed of light = time goes backwards. Is based on no proof in any way. Most likely the object will already have passed when we have seen it.

Your avatar makes your statement more credible. Good sir, you are a hero.
GUIS! Bender is bendin the time! Run!
Your post is really unscientific and assumes much. It also mixes things up, uses special relativity (high velocities-> time dillatation) but then contradicts it on purpose (travelling faster than sol).
Also timetravel is only possible within general relativity

What the...
troll thread
If going faster than the speed of light was possible, there would still be a problem: when you are approaching the speed of light, time slows down for you so everything else goes faster ( you travel forward in time basically ).
When you actually start going faster than light, you still have to travel back in time the time that was spent on reaching the speed of light.
Meaning that if you actually wanted to travel back in time, you would have to travel at 2 times the speed of light first to cancel the time-forwarding effect of travelling at the speed of light.
But this was just a theory, can anyone confirm this?
2. Theories also says that 'aliens' bend time. Making a long path short.
No, the aliens bend the spacetime by releasing huge amounts of energy. Our sun bends spacetime just a little bit, so the energy required would be impossible to understand.
Oh, it's this thread again.
You're not funny.
I love it when people who don't have the slightest clue about what they're taking about lecture like they're experts after reading a wikipedia article.
yeah, too bad that time travel would work because sure we would cease to exist as we know it, but rather exist within the 5th dimension, a split. you people need to stop talking about time travel and dimensions and actually learn how they work...

These are all completely wrong. Time isn't the fourth dimension, time follows the same dimensions and space, in something known as spacetime. Time is simply a different metric of space, and viceversa. You cannot move through time without moving through space, and while effectively time goes only forward and is linked to space, it doesn't stop if you head any direction or stop moving.
The both following statements are all completely false and assume that time dilation works at non relativistic speeds. Neither phenomena is true, not even if you were moving at speeds close to that of light, time will flow at the exact same speed you were in before, it will only change to an observer at a different speed. This only happens, again, at incredibly high speeds, or by gravitational forces. You will never experience time dilation on your every day.
As for the last topic, that's entirely unknown. As far as we know, there's really no way to move in time and not space, aside from really stopping time for yourself, which would be possible at impossible to reach speed of light. It really make no sense how you would be able to do that, that's like walking to a point B from a point A and back and saying you didn't travel at all, when in reality you just walked the distance between A and B twice.

Your friend is a dumbass. There IS a limit to how fast matter can travel in a vacuum. For all intents and purposes, nothing has been observed to go faster than the speed of light which, sorry to break your friend's logic, is not infinity. I realize he's trying to disprove time travel, but that's a moot point when he doesn't know the fundamentals of Special Relativity and yet tries to interpret it.
Not to mention the numerous grammatical and spelling errors present within this "theory". Sure, time travel into the future is indeed possible. This has been established through Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity.
The second part of the OP is easy: It's called a temporal paradox.

Time cube you ONEism God worshiper. Basically, what he is saying is that while there is day on one part of earth, it is night on another. Oh yes, and there is racism and really random ranting.
"Imagine time is like coffee"
Slightly off topic, what film was it that was to do with 2 guys making a time machine that they could take apart and put in one of those storage units and then things start going wrong?

Got it: Primer
Time is the name we game to mass moving. Way too few people understand this.
