And I have no idea where a good place to get samples is.
Preferably free if possible.
help me. ]:
My top three sample sites.
http://www.freesound.org/ - They've got everything, and it's all user upload, so new stuff gets added every day. Quality varies
http://sampleswap.org/ - All kinds of samples, mostly low quality
http://www.loopmasters.com/ - Big variety, Excellent quality

This site has a ton from a wide variety of genres. Also, their usage policy is very lenient.

This is an old step sequencer for making drum loops (a very simple version of the one in FL). It's free and has a bunch of free downloadable loops/samples you can get for it. I just downloaded the program and some of these samples/loops and converted them to *.wav files.
BTW have fun with FL, it's pretty cool stuff.
Also, get this (it's free). http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/
It'll help give your music an edge.

Overused to the max. If I hear that anywhere, I instantly recognise it. Jsut do the glitching manually man.
That being said, as an individual effect, or maybe two at most, it works great. The tapestop is especially fairly glorious.
What? It's a great, easy to use tool for new producers. Has some really good stuff on it, and yeah tapestop is my favourite.
