He was killed over a game. A 9-year-old boy visiting his family in Harlem sat down Saturday to play a video game starring his skateboarding hero, Tony Hawk. By 3:30 a.m., play time had turned to horror. Police said Alejandro Morales, 25, plunged a knife in the boy's chest, sending him staggering to his uncle's bedroom door. "Uncle, uncle, I've been stabbed!" Anthony Maldonado cried out, before collapsing on the floor, the uncle, Carlos Juela, 31, recalled. Paramedics rushed Anthony from the La Salle St. apartment to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, but the New Jersey boy died in less than an hour, police said. "Anthony was playing ... on PlayStation when his friend came and stabbed him," said the boy's distraught grandfather, Antonio Juela, 59. "My grandson died over a video game." Anthony's devastated mother, Dolores Juela, 35, raged against her son's suspected killer, unable to control her tears. "Why would you kill my little boy?" she thundered in Spanish. "There is no reason." Morales, wearing a white jacket and blue jeans, looked dazed, exhausted and unshaven last night as he was walked from the 26th Precinct stationhouse. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Cops said Morales was the victim's cousin, while relatives said he was a family friend who lived at the uncle's apartment. Anthony was a fourth-grader at Lindbergh Elementary in Palisades Park, N.J. He loved skateboarding, and was ecstatic about getting a PlayStation system for Christmas. He spent the holidays at his grandfather's Harlem apartment while his mother remained at home. He was spending the night at his uncle's nearby apartment when he was killed. Dolores Juela told the Daily News that her brother, Carlos Juela, rents an apartment in the Grant Houses along with a group of three brothers who are not related to the family. At one point, Carlos Juela, 31, went to sleep and left Anthony in the care of the three brothers, she said. Two of the brothers left the apartment to get food at about 3 a.m. Anthony and Morales remained behind because they were so engrossed in playing the video game, the distraught mother said. Roughly 30 minutes later, Anthony was stabbed. Dolores Juela arrived at the hospital four hours later for the grim task of identifying her son. "He was so popular in school," she said. "He was such a good boy. He didn't deserve this. He was too young." Police said Anthony was stabbed several times. A relative said his face had also been slashed and that he had bruises on his arms - perhaps indicating a struggle before the stabbing. Cops investigating the murder shut down power to the building's elevator and searched the shaft for the murder weapon. Dolores Juela said Morales' mother told her that her son was guilty of the shocking crime. "She said he was sick," Dolores Juela recalled. Anthony's uncle confirmed Morales lived in the apartment. "He was a friend. I can't believe this happened," Carlos Juela said. "He doesn't act right on the street but he always minded his manners in the house." Anthony's grandfather could not get over why an adult would stab his "lovely" little grandson. "Anthony was a loving child who loved his PlayStation," Antonio Juela said. "He got the PlayStation for Christmas and was very happy. He was so happy." When I was his age, I was barely allowed to hang out with my 14 year old cousin. Not to mention, a 9 year old shouldn't be up at 3:30 am. In my opinion, it was the guardians fault.
the guardians fault for him being stabbed? is it her responsibility to read the future and the minds of people? i don't see what's wrong with letting a 9 year old hang out with a 20 something year old as long as they're caring and good with kids.
Even that idiot Jack Thompson would think this is fucking stupid.

Anyone else think of Pay it Forward?
Yes, clearly the stabbing is the result of playing video games, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that they're willing to let a 9-year-old hang out with a 25-year-old thug and his friends.
I read the article, but i must have missed something. Why did the kid get stabbed? I don't understand how it was 'bad reading' it doesn't actually say anywhere WHY he was actually killed.
I read the article, but i must have missed something. Why did the kid get stabbed?
Because the murderer "was sick". That's the closest the article says as to the reason.
I read the article, but i must have missed something. Why did the kid get stabbed?
It seems that the motive is unclear.
It's her responsibility to know the kind of people that her grandson is hanging out with, yes.
If you read it the uncle had been living with that guy for awhile now.
"He was a friend. I can't believe this happened," Carlos Juela said. "He doesn't act right on the street but he always minded his manners in the house."
There is the guardian fail right there. You don't leave a kid alone with an adult, an adult that you know has issues. Not at 3 am that's for sure.
The guardians are dumb 'No, he was just mad because Video Games give you evil rage when you play them, obviously'
I'm so pro at that game me and Uberslug have contests to see who can do the best Benihana
I read the article, but i must have missed something. Why did the kid get stabbed? I don't understand how it was 'bad reading' it doesn't actually say anywhere WHY he was actually child.
i don't know why I was child either
I'm so pro at that game me and Uberslug have contests to see who can do the best Benihana
Don't get stabbed now. :ohdear:
Al-Quada bombings kills 3 civilians today... Fucking Fifa '09!
I'm so pro at that game me and Uberslug have contests to see who can do the best Benihana
Well good for you! trying new things i see that's always good.
alejandro must fuckin suck at that game
So why are they blaming it on video games? It looks like their only reason for doing so was because he happened to be playing a game at the time.
I'm so pro at that game me and Uberslug have contests to see who can do the best Benihana
Baaaaangiiiin'
"He doesn't act right on the street but he always minded his manners in the house."
Genius. Let's let him hang out with our 9-year-old kid at 3 am.
This reminds me of that Boondocks episode where they're trying to catch the xbox killer Also how Riley is friends with alcoholic criminal psychopaths
Is it just me, or is the real reason for the stabbing conveniently missing from this article, replaced by repetition of the fact he was gaming? Either the author is a TERRIBLE writer, or they were trying twist the story to their way of thinking.
First off, what kind of terrible people let their children have friends in their mid 20s?

Cops said Morales was the victim's cousin
:downs:
It's cool because Tony Hawk's Ride has life lessons between the loading screens (I SHIT YOU NOT), and one of them directly says "Life Lesson: Don't let competition get to your head".
Now they'll sue Tony Hawk for the death of their child
Did they just take the story of a murder and attached something about them playing video games?
But seriously, who lets a 9 year old at that time of night be alone with an adult that they knew wasn't the kind and caring type.
I don't understand how it was 'bad reading' it doesn't actually say anywhere WHY he was actually child.

it doesn't actually say anywhere WHY he was actually child.

WHY he was actually child.
Well he was not adult, he was child because he was 9. Duh.
Who lets there child hang out with a 25 year old street thug? Would you let this man hang out with your 9 year old?
