"What I said was [about not greenlighting] anything that [doesn't have] an online service. You can have a very deep single-player game but it has to have an ongoing content plan for keeping customers engaged beyond what's on the initial disc. I'm not saying deathmatch must come to Mirror's Edge." He added that games are to be thought of as services now, and went on to say that you, "need to have a social experience where you're part of a large community." EA knows what you need better than you do, after all.] Electronic Arts' games label boss Frank Gibeau has revealed that he's not let any solely single-player games pass through his gates, ensuring that absolutely every single title the company publishes has an online component. "We are very proud of the way EA evolved with consumers," he said. "I have not green lit one game to be developed as a singleplayer experience. Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365. "One of our biggest growth opportunities is Play4Free titles that allow customers to play at no cost and make purchases via microtransactions. We see this as a huge opportunity, and one that’s powered by our hybrid cloud model." With co-op coming to Dead Space 3 and multiplayer rumored for Dragon Age 3, it seems that the idea of solo-oriented experiences is now dead to EA. As is variety, it seems. The inexorable march towards videogames becoming one indistinguishable mass of grey sludge continues. I proudly refuse to waste my money on you anymore, EA. Unless its Mirrors Edge 2.
$$$
please just die already EA, please
well that's supid I love the to buy single-player Games the most and I don't have alot of hope for Dead Space 3
I proudly refuse to waste my money on you anymore, EA. Unless its Mirrors Edge 2.
That's a single player game. As if I'm going to buy any Multiplayer only EA games when they shut down servers for their games, some barely a year old, every fucking year. I bought a Madden game, was enjoying its online, 3 months after I got it they shut down the online servers for it
And that's basically confirmation that they have stripped all hope of a singleplayer story in C&C G2. FUCK YOU EA.
That's a single player game
They're gonna shove a multiplayer feature in it, just watch
They're gonna shove a multiplayer feature in it, just watch
Like a leaderboard where the top 10 spots of a time trial are all finished in 0.2 seconds!
The inexorable march towards videogames becoming one indistinguishable mass of grey sludge continues.
ugh give me a break
If this just means tacking on time trials or high score lists, I don't care, it doesn't harm the production.

They shut down half their games within a year and talk about keeping the player engaged? Know what's fucking engaging? Dwarf Fortress. It's free and doesn't even have graphics or multiplayer, and it's more interesting than anything EA has shit out in the last year.
But I don't got any of them there city person internet connections.
Know what's fucking engaging? Dwarf Fortress.
i would say a vast majority of people probably won't find Dwarf Fortress engaging
Since I buy for single player this pretty much means they don't offer anything I want. Oh well.
Frank Gibeau sure does like running his shit into the ground harder than the stockmarket crash of 1929.
i would say a vast majority of people probably won't find Dwarf Fortress engaging
Adrenaline rush as hell when elephants stampede your fort
Have faith! Dead Space 3 is still coming!
Well Mr. EA boss, you are a colossal idiot.
They're gonna shove a multiplayer feature in it, just watch
Doesn't need to be a bad thing. Online racing mode in mirrors edge would be awesome in my honest opinion. Still, this is a really stupid thing to say EA. Oh well, just keep circling the drain. Its the one thing y'all have done well lately.
NO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES? EA you ruined yourself. Please explode.
So does this mean the Sims 4 will be multiplayer?
Since I buy for single player this pretty much means they don't offer anything I want. Oh well.
i say this a lot about your posts, but what the fuck are you talking about?
You can have a very deep single-player game but it has to have an ongoing content plan for keeping customers engaged beyond what's on the initial disc.
obviously you're very confused and think this is EA somehow saying they won't make single-player games anymore, read the article [editline]6th September 2012[/editline]
NO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES?
fuckin news
Doesn't need to be a bad thing. Online racing mode in mirrors edge would be awesome in my honest opinion.Still, this is a really stupid thing to say EA. Oh well, just keep circling the drain. Its the one thing y'all have done well lately.
Online racing deathmatch mode. With premium.
So does this mean the Sims 4 will be multiplayer?
They should just remake The Sims Online but with all the tech and stuff from 3.
So does this mean the Sims 4 will be multiplayer?
That'd be a one way street to disaster, people play sims for offline enjoyment because it kills some time, if they added multiplayer it'd kill the whole purpose.
Have faith! Dead Space 3 is still coming!
but will it be as good as the first 2 which will be hard with a co-op
If they shut off servers for games meaning they're impossible to play after a year, doesn't that just encourage piracy? Instead of paying $60 for 1 year, people will just pay nothing to use a game forever.
Online racing deathmatch mode. With premium.
Jesus christ, don't give them anymore "good" ideas.
