• Windows Patch Causing Black Screen of Death
Microsoft says it's investigating reports that its latest release of security updates are causing some Windows (7, Vista and XP) machines to freeze after starting, and display a black screen with a single My Computer Explorer window. "Once we complete our investigation, we will provide detailed guidance on how to prevent or address these issues." Security software maker, Prevx, first reported the problem surrounding the November 10, and has created a tool to fix the issue if you're affected:http://www.prevx.com/blog/140/Black-Screen-woes-could-affect-millions-on-Windows--Vista-and-XP.html
Update registry, break thousands of computers. Hah, isn't the first time either.
Ahahahahahahahahahaha
Well that explains a few things
I never update. At all.
I never update. At all.
Have fun with your huge security holes.
Goddamn it, I have my desktop set to Auto-Update...
This is bad, that "restart me" thingy is popping up all the time. I'm afraid.
I literally just updated windows7. going to reboot and see what happens
As I opened this thread Windows notified me of new updates - it never does that..
it's fine for me
Have fun with your huge security holes.
Have fun with your black screen! I only update with Service Packs, or if its something that's needed, if not, I don't bother. Never change something that works, That's my cardinal rule about software

Never change something that works, That's my cardinal rule about software
countless little things get fixed, some of the fixes help software run more stable. You are a fool to not update, it takes about 5 seconds.
I'm not going to update everything every time it wants to update, its stupid to fire up your PC and having to update SOMETHING every time you boot up, no. It works, I'm content, Like I said, I'll go for the big service packs, and updating games, but from there, everything I update is an Only-If-Needed Come on, Windows wants to update to Security Update 908531! Which causes more problems with a lot of people with Verclsid.exe which wants to verify everything you do as you do it, but instead, it causes things to not run at all, or conflict, and then THAT needed an update, It's ridiculous, What I'm saying is... Some 'Fixes' Cause things to run even less stable
...I'll be having fun with my colorful spinning wheel.

It doesn't matter how much you update, if you're connected to the internet, you can be exploited
Your rule is shit. What if it works but does it badly?
A lot of programmers agree with him on that

Great testing from MS as per usual...
*switches Auto update off until the fix comes out*
I updated and my version of windows XP is working ok.
Too bad they don't have anything on the BBSON (bright blue screen of nothing).
I haven't updated yet.
This happened to my brother, don't remember how he solved it.
I haven't come across the problem, but i've run it just in case.
Hell I can't even update to Service Pack 3, I have to remove it later on or my computer won't start.
