I was wondering if window blinds (or something nicer, cause blinds can be a bit annoying at times) works well with Windows 7, cause I want to go back to the Windows 98 Look, and I mean the real one, not windows 7's classic look.
Windows is designed so you can't edit the way it looks. This way it's easy for users to pick up and go due to its familiar interface.

Except you can.

But it's piss-easy.
**Right click > Personalize > scroll to "Windows classic theme"
done.
Hmm. There's something wrong here, but I can't quiet put my finger on it. Wonder what it is.

He can not look past the "windows 7 classic"? All you have to do is change the background and if you really wanna go old school, change the taskbar to read the text too. Besides that, it is pretty much the same.

...except for the bottom bar
If you changed the start logo, made the super bar have 3 items (small icons also!) and removed the show desktop button, it would look alot like Windows 98. With uh, widgets.
Unpin everything and it's the same unless you're an idiot.
They should rename "classic theme" to "living in the past theme"
I just wish there was one for office
The classic theme is as good as it's going to get man. If you really feel nostalgic you can use small icons, never collapse and labels on the taskbar.
I prefer the classic theme.
Classic theme for maximum performance.

Maximum performance with no GPU accelleration.
I love cicero.
However, to go to it you'll need to use additional resources for the shell tweaking. So it's not truely a "lightweight" approach. Just turn off Aero, and DWM.

The performance difference between DWM being on and off is negligible.
