Sagehorn was suspended after he recently responded to an anonymous post online that said he was seen kissing a female gym teacher, according to the teen's father, Curt Sagehorn. The younger Sagehorn tweeted, "Actually, yes," in response to the rumor post, which his father said was meant to be sarcastic.
SOURCE STUDENTS ARE ROBOTS BEEP BOOP
Elk River Area School District Superintendent Mark Bezek has said Sagehorn violated the district's code of conduct for social media.
Schools need to fuck off with this shit. Once the student leaves campus their conduct is no longer the school's responsibility. Pulling bullshit like this is nothing more than trying to exert even more control over their students than they already can, and it attempts to further foster the "You will fall in line, do as you are told, speak when spoken to" mindset educators seem to have.

Schools should have no bearing on what you can and cant do while not in school or on school grounds. If that kid wants to make a tweet that says "Niggers niggers kill all fags" that is the grounds for the parents to discipline not the schools
c'mon the question we all have to know is; was this quasi-teacher he might have kissed hot? And secondly... will this end up like one of my cantonese animes? I find it hilarious how the school can really go through with this suspension; and I also don't blame the kid at all for never wanting to go back to that school
I disagree. Schools should have no bearing on what you can and cant do while not in school or on school grounds. If that kid wants to make a tweet that says "Niggers niggers kill all fags" that is the grounds for the parents to discipline not the schools
I wonder what all schools would have done if they could see what the average 13 year old kid has to say on such places as Fail of Duty multiplayer, Xbox live, LoL, and similar things. I guarantee you more than two out of three of them will be suspended if the schools deem their behavior to be too annoying or not morally right enough.

If that kid wants to make a tweet that says "Niggers niggers kill all fags" that is the grounds for the parents to discipline not the schools
Sometimes those rules are set by the sport associations and not the schools which makes sense to me. If you want to participate in league play or whatever you have to abide by league rules. It's a voluntary action, and while it might look good on a couple applications, chances are it's just a game for you. The situation in the OP and a lot of other reported incidences seem completely over the top though. School isn't voluntary, and your education is more than likely pretty essential. Pulling someone out of the educational system and putting them at a disadvantage for essentially harmless actions doesn't make any sense.

Imagine if cheatpunch was applied to schools
Print Tshirts to support the kid. Front says "Actually, Stop" back has a trending hashtag related to it.
Rust kiddies school-lives would be ruined. Imagine if cheatpunch was applied to schools
"Fuck you Principal, I was VAC banned from the online classes for two months just because I played a little Rust during your boring speech." - Average Rust Kiddie if such an event came to pass.
I've been suspended because I tweeted song lyrics that were a 'threat to the student body', they were going to expel me and make me plead my case in front of the school board.
I've been suspended because I tweeted song lyrics that were a 'threat to the student body', they were going to expel me and make me plead my case in front of the school board.
lets hear those lyrics. I want to feel threatened like your schools student body [editline]24th February 2014[/editline]
"Fuck you Principal, I was VAC banned from the online classes for two months just because I played a little Rust during your boring speech." - Average Rust Kiddie if such an event came to pass.
"I've never even heard of Rust before.. what's that?
I've been suspended because I tweeted song lyrics that were a 'threat to the student body', they were going to expel me and make me plead my case in front of the school board.
Once you leave school, put a straitjacket outside the school board's office just for the hell of it. My old school principal was an asshole too, so I rewarded her with a pie from the school roof. They never found out who did it.
If that kid wants to make a tweet that says "Niggers niggers kill all fags" that is the grounds for the parents to discipline not the schools
You know, it's kind of funny when you look at it that way. Schools want to get involved if a student says something bad on Twitter, but they will wash their hands on most cases of bullying.

Got suspended for a FB post and was taken to court over it. Got charged with Disorderly Conduct. Shit is sad. (Made a sarcastic school shooting joke about a nerf gun)
Sagehorn was suspended after he recently responded to an anonymous post online that said he was seen kissing a female gym teacher, according to the teen's father, Curt Sagehorn. The younger Sagehorn tweeted, "Actually, yes,"
To be fair, the guy did allege that a member of the school staff was engaged in the kind of inappropriate conduct that would get her fired. He might not have meant any harm, but the guy has to realize that words can have consequences. Getting suspended might not nessicarily have been the right call, but the guy is hardly an innocent victim.

People should use their own common sense and judgment, treat the rules a little like guidelines.
It should be a binary system. If it infringes the law(Racism, harassment and bullying etc) then it is for the police to deal with. Anything that is not breaking any law should be nothing to do with the school. Punishing students for things said outside of school is damn similar to them policing what you say with your friends in person.

(Made a sarcastic school shooting joke about a nerf gun)
no offense bud but as a school I think they're within their rights for acting on any sort of message about school shootings if you want stupid suspensions a friend of mine got a week for blatantly masking swears. "What the fish? SHUT THE FRONT DOOR." was the phrase that went on record
Rust kiddies school-lives would be ruined. Imagine if cheatpunch was applied to schools
Nah, it would be more like all the kiddies would have no clothes and just run around with there penises fully erect. Of course, they would all be censored and pants forcefully applied to them.

A school's authority and responsibility needs to end at their property line.

my school never gave a single fuck about this shit. though I also had one of the coolest principles i've ever met at the time. he got fired near the end of my senior year due to some bogus fucking rumor and thanks to schools zero tolerance policies, yes they have them even for staff, he had to be let go. what i've heard now is that they have a principle who has a doctorate in bible study, and that they have daily prayer. On sundays the school is turned into a church. such utter bullshit.
This is the part where I bring up the "it didn't happen on school grounds let him back in you schmucks" argument.
never really got action taken on me for stupid things like this, but i did start a trend with superimposing obviously fake cups on lean on social network profile pictures as a part of the "leansquad" (which i was deemed by administration as the ring leader of). concurrently the administration thought the entire senior class was chugging codeine/promethazine before football games. [editline]24th February 2014[/editline] needless to say "purple drink" was a scapegoat for a few weeks

I got two days ISS when I was in the eleventh grade The assistant principal saw me smoking a cigarette. When I was at the mall. thirty five miles away from the school
