• Adderall, and similar drugs

So I've always had a hard time staying focused. Often it takes me ridiculous amounts of time to complete tasks that should only take a fraction of the time. I want to try some kind of safe, over the counter type drug similar to adderall and see if it benefits me at all. Can anyone here recommend any (if there are any)? I've talked to a therapist before but they didn't think there was reasonable evidence to say i had any form of ADD. I'm definitely not reaching my full potential and it's bugging me. I'm not on any drugs that would interfere with adderall-type drugs (i get high every now and then but i doubt that would affect it at all) so as long as there are no dangerous side effects i'd be willing to give anything a try.
smoke meth
I'm definitely not reaching my full potential and it's bugging me.
A full year of complete sobriety is your 100% full potential.
By Adderall-type drugs do you mean Amphetamines, Stimulants, or just drugs very similar to Adderall(dl-amphetamine)?
There aren't really going to be any safe OTC (or even prescription) drugs to take for focus to take everyday, safe is relative, but if you need everyday help try coffee or caffeine pills. Even caffeine can make a pretty bad habit, but most other drugs will be even worse.
I'm keeping a close watch on this thread, I have the same problems as twoski. Actually I'd risk using a focus-enhancing drug for 3 months (until exams) if it gave me a real performance boost.

If you are willing to take the health risks associated with regular stim use and you can't find amphetamine (or methylphenidate or what have you) then I suggest you try 2-fma. It's a legal (in most countries) research chemical that is awesome as a study/work drug, better than the current prescription drugs as well (at least according to me and most who've tried it, read up on it on drug forums for more info). Very subtle and functional high with no overpowering euphoria, not even on higher doses.
taking otc stims regularly is like selling your soul. it fucking sucks being around your friends but being replaced with a humorless shell of a person
coffeecoffeecoffee
smoke meth
you could get desoxyn tablets for add that are 5mg meth each, unsurprisingly they don't hand them out very much [editline]12th February 2013[/editline]
coffeecoffeecoffee
bad idea! caffine stimulates the entire brain pretty much, meaning anything distracting is going to distract you more. obviously if you have trouble concentrating anyway this ain't gonna help. amphetamines stimulate the part of your brain you're using, essentially cuttings off distraction. obviously there's more to it, but that's a simple explanation. not recommending taking amps either, sometimes enviroment is the key. i have trouble concentrating but then realise my house is a shithole, got computer, music blaring away.... etc.
A full year of complete sobriety is your 100% full potential.
well it's not like i'm going out drinking every weekend. i drank 4 tallboys 2 weekends ago and that was a big event for me... and other than that i occasionally smoke the a bowl, watch a movie then go to bed. i'm just trying to find a fix-me-up kind of drug i can pop before a long study session that can improve my focus. if i have to take a stimulant constantly every day just to feel its effects then i'd rather not even bother with it.
I would suggest vyvanse for its length of action. Just don't take them more than, let's say, once or twice a month.
Read an article about legal drugs to use like this in a wired magizine ill find it 1 sec edit - Well theres this.. http://www.wired.com/medtech/drugs/news/2008/04/smart_drugs?currentPage=all) Couldnt find the article im talking about will look more lol
yeah you could guinea pig the many nootropics available. always been tempted to try piracetam myself.
Anon, University of Washington student Regimen: A battery of nooropics and similar drugs (DMAE, Vinpocetine, Pramiracetam, etc.) since last September or so. Results: I swear by them. No negative side effects, and my brain functions 150 percent more effectively. More regular use gives improved enhancement.
I'd be interested in giving this a shot, provided he's right about there being no dangerous/bad side effects. vinpocetine sounds like a really safe bet http://www.life-enhancement.com/magazine/article/193-almost-everything-you-want-to-know-about-vinpocetine e: Actually, there are some potentially super shitty side effects... http://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Vinpocetine-10mg-Tablets/product-reviews/B001G7R7PM/ref=cm_cr_pr_btm_link_next_3?ie=UTF8&pageNumber=3&showViewpoints=0 A handful of reviews point out a drastic mood shift...
Vinpocetine increases in neuronal levels of DOPAC, a metabolic breakdown product of dopamine, have been shown to occur in striatal isolated nerve endings as a result of exposure to vinpocetine.[15] Such an effect is consistent with the biogenic pharmacology of reserpine, a structural relative of vinpocetine, which depletes catecholamine levels and causes depression as a side effect of the cardiovascular and anti-psychotic effects.[15] However, this effect tends to be reversible upon cessation of Vinpocetine administration, with full remission typically occurring within 3-4 weeks. Basically, it can lower dopamine, serotonin and norepinepherine all of which are essential neurotransmitters involved in mood and cognition.
e2: after reading about a pile of different nootropics i think i'm going to try Aniracetam. Lots of positive reviews about it and the side effects (if there would be any) are manageable and non-threatening. Needs to be taken with choline i think so that's a whole other barrel of monkies since there are so many choline variants.

no, but what does that even matter. if i were getting drunk every weekend then i would concede that drinking is probably having a noticeable impact on my life but for the last 6 or so months i've been very sober. i'd go out and have a few beers now and then but it's not like i was doing kegstands all night. when i talk about reaching my full potential i mean being more focused on the task at hand. I really doubt that having a few beers now and then is the root of my problem. I know plenty of people who get sloppy drunk several times a week and they're still more capable of focusing than me.
i bet you exhibited drug seeking behavior when talking to your doctor. you do this, you're screwed when it comes to getting meds that actually work.
We didn't even discuss drugs, we talked about my symptoms but she thought i didn't have any form of ADD. I think i should have just embellished a little bit so i could at least TRY some of these drugs. Worst case, they don't help me and i stop takng them, best case, i get noticeable improvements.
either get a new doctor or make a story. if you are genuinely having trouble paying attention and this doctor isn't doing shit they're a shit doctor.
Sleep and eat right before you decide you need drugs to function at a human pace
Sleep and eat right before you decide you need drugs to function at a human pace
I do! I cook my own meals, i eat lots of veggies/fruits and i don't have any lactose or many red meats in my diet. I try to eat 3 meals a day and i generally get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per day. I don't get as much physical exercise as i'd like but i'm up to my teeth in math homework and i have midterms. If anyone here has tried aniracetam/piracetam, share your story! I've been reading nothing but good things about both of them and i wanna give them a shot.
I've tried adrafinil and modafinil for a week or so each. They're alright, felt like i could focus easier and easily stay up all night working but i did feel like it took a bit of a toll on me. Got a little anxious and agitated at times but not sure what that was down to
got 120 caps of piracetam coming soon, can't wait to try it out and see what happens. i skipped the choline because it's not necessary. if i get headaches from the piracetam it means my choline intake isn't high enough so i'll just go to the pharmacy and get some.
i got a sample of 3,4-dichloromethylphenidate, an uncontrolled Ritalin analogue that is supposedly very functional but long lasting. 1-3 mg dose if u don't wanna be up for 16 hours. I got 20mg to dissolve in 1ml vodka. It's not very soluble in water despite being a HCl salt, perfect for a standard medicine dropper (1mg/drop)
If you smoke an Adderall XR, does it turn into an instant release?
If you smoke an Adderall XR, does it turn into an instant release?
Haven't you heard of crushing up the balls inside? You must have missed 9th grade drug abuse class..
Haven't you heard of crushing up the balls inside? You must have missed 9th grade drug abuse class..
Yeah i have but you cant smoke it if you crush it up, and its hella hard to crush it up, i had to put it in a bag last time and use a hammer till the white stuff cums out.
I would suggest vyvanse for its length of action. Just don't take them more than, let's say, once or twice a month.
What happens if you take it more. I just started trying it at school and love it. It really makes me more of a person i want to be.
Why don't you dissolve the balls then evaporate the solvent and scrape up what's left?
