Do You Think There Will Be Any Legendary Albums Made Again?

I'm not the kind to think "everything's dead in music, let's give up", but there are some who like to live in the past due to albums like "Blonde on Blonde" or "Dark Side of The Moon" being released when it spoke to a wider amount of people compared to now.
I'll post a poll, but I want to discuss what you think.
My view is this.
I see technology is getting better and it is becoming a lot more obvious in the experimental stuff nowadays. Music will become another level beyond what had already been achieved within the last "rock" era.
I reckon someone or a few people will produce something, not soon but in the far future, that will have people obsessed for years.
It's been a while since a large amount of people were all into the same thing. I think that will happen, but what do you think?
I think Deconstruction will be a legendary album.
And legendary is a subjective term really, cause it depends who is listening to the album, the subculture that it is directed to, the message it entails if any.
It's guaranteed to happen again man, no doubt in my mind, might just take a little while until the music industries choke hold on music is fought back.

It will be a good album.
Definitely.
Of course, there will always be diamonds among the dirt.
Definitely.
Elaborate.
Dark Side of The Moon stayed in the charts for years ahead of the release.
I can see it being glorious in every single way and being the album I judge all others against.
"Oh yeah man that albums amazing, but it ain't no decon."
I actually intend to get all the albums on the same day and listen from the start of Ki all the way to the end of Ghost.

Missing the point, I'm talking a mass scale. Right now we already have great albums being made.
Sure, I don't know why not. There were quite a few of these albums in the 90's, although I can't think of any from the 00's off the top of my head except for maybe Kid A.

This is something that makes this thread not an easy thing to answer. You can't just say yes when there has been nothing of a grand scale in the past 10 years.
There is nothing at the moment that is truly brilliant or mind blowing, well of course there is but nothing on a grand scale. Something like this is also hard to predict because people will change over time and tastes will change.

I'm not so sure I can rely on a whole population to change tastes so easily. That is why I think it'll be in the far future.
10 or more years even...
I also had the far future in mind so that is why I said that tastes will change.

The 90's don't seem that long ago to me, so albums like Nevermind and What's The Story Morning Glory and OK Computer seem like they might happen again. But albums like that haven't really happened in the 00's now that I think about it.
There's been some albums in the 00's that have had a whole lot of critical acclaim but not a whole lot of commercial success, and they mostly go unnoticed by the masses. It seems like the only records that sell to the masses are the Disney albums and albums by Green day. At least for the rock genre, anyway. But there have been some rap albums that have had a lot of critical and commercial success.
I do see hip hop getting great credit, but even so. It has become less prominent than in the 90s when it got a lot more respect.
Now an image has been bestowed upon it which is disallowing it to move to that point.
I think any album can be looked as legendary. The album Carnavas by Silversun Pickups is legendary to me, I've listened to it over 50 times all the way through. I freakin love it

Then recommend it, it's probably a great album.
But seeing as it hasn't hit a spark with the industry, it can't be.

If in terms of popularity, then Adele's 19 album will probably be remembered as it's still in the charts (in a high position) more than 2 years after its release.
Yes I do believe so, it just has to be something revolutionary; something that's musically good, can be liked by pretty much anyone, and put all over the media everywhere... like Beatles. But with the internet and such, it's hard to reach out to all of the minorities, or perhaps easier, so that we get overloaded witthings are easily forgotten.

True but billboard has prevented bands on independent record labels to really spark anything. It's seems that legendary status has to be achieved by pop culture or by some craze.
What I mean is popularity isn't everything.

I did think about Adele.
I've heard her 21 album, and it was good.
Probably the most popular album this year I think. But even so, I can still see something hitting a bigger peak.
It's already sold more than her debut anyway :v:

I think legendary albums aren't seen as legendary until years later, so maybe Adele's 19 will be that someday.

40+ Years ago is a lot different to now.
You really think it can be done on that scale?

I reckon 21 will be her epitominal of artistry. A big call after only a second album, but if that's how I can see it.
The success that she gets now won't get any bigger with another one.

What is your exact definition of a legendary album?

I do actually believe it is possible, yes, but our music (tastes) is so spread out today, but I'm positive towards the possibility of a group or an artist to become as liked and appreciated by almost everyone.
What is your exact definition of a legendary album?
A landmark that is timeless and has a big effect on the industry and artists as a whole.
Some of the "First" post that I did for the Recommend An Album thread has them.

I do fear that we're being more optimistic than needed. But oh well :v:
