Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The weather has taken a severe turn for the worse across much of the Midlands, as the intense rainfall has finally arrived across the area, leading to catastrophic flooding in the area
http://www.wltx.com/story/weather/2015/10/04/historic-flooding-south-carolina/73236892/ More rain to come. Livestream in the link. My girlfriend is from Sumter. Its destroyed. Her brothers are riding around in a boat helping. Caskets are coming out of the ground from cemeterys. https://mobile.twitter.com/JRBerryWLTX tons of pics here.
It's crazy here, I'm right on the Congaree River in Columbia and it's almost up to the bridge. Power has been up and down all day, constant helicopters and sirens.
Shit, sounds like it's getting pretty bad up there. I'm just south of that region of SC (thank goodness most of the worst flooding missed us), but I hope everyone farther north stays safe.

A 70 mile section of I-95 is shut down.
Sheesh, I got real lucky in this storm. Hope ya'll in SC get to high ground. Hopefully this'll be over sooner than later.
Yup, grew up in sumter, however i'm in new mexico now. As far as i know, there was a girl who died from USC from drowning and a few others missing. My family told me that pretty much any way out of sumter is washed away, 378, us 15, the roads out by shaw afb, etc.
Few people from my work have minor flooding in their house, and 1 other had his house completely rotated of its foundation. And got a call a few hours ago from my storage unit saying that all units have been flooded out. And apparently my car retains water pretty well :v (All in Sumter go figure) My couch, loveseat, desk, and tables are probably ruined. And I don't know why I did it before I left...but I bought waterproof cases to move all my shit in instead of packing them in cardboard boxes. Probably saved me a lot of headache. But I'm more thankful that my friends back home are ok. I mean...household items, vehicles, and property are all replaceable. So I'm still happy. Wish I could be home to help out with everything.
I'm a bit further south, in Columbia. Things are still exceptionally fucked here. I'm glad I live on a hill. The garage took the worst of it. A bunch of cardboard boxes of stuff got ruined, and the room attached to the garage is fucked, but otherwise things are okay. A huge tree could have come down on the house, instead it went the opposite direction and slammed the pond. There hasn't been a storm this bad in a long time.
Reasons why they are calling it the 1000 year flood. I remember when the one hit the Asheville area in 2004. Wasn't as bad as this though.
It's just breaking tons of records all over the place. Also, living on a hill really has it's upsides sometimes. Although my town hasn't gotten it too bad.

I took 378 from Conway on Friday to get to my parents house in Manning. Now I'm stuck at their house because there are no roads out of Clarendon county. I-95, US 521, 378, hell even 301 is flooded/collapsed. This is literally the most water I've ever seen in my life.

My girlfriends brother was skyping us while riding around on their boat helping people. We just visited there back in July. Just crazy to see these areas that I've been to underwater.. Can't imagine living there.

Meanwhile, i'm here in NC, gonna enjoy a nice warm sunny day tomorrow. Gonna wash my bike and head for a ride.

This is my girlfriends brothers riding the boat down the street. They have a local officer living across from them, and his squad car is completely submerged. Wish they got some pictures of the water creeping over it.

It's wrecked the ability to get anywhere on the other side of it without going around your ass to get to your elbow. There's also a driving curfew in place for my area. No road traffic from 6pm to 6am.
Prayers for my neighbors in SC
Basically, nature said "fuck california more, you guys get 1000000000000000000000000 gallons of rain" [editline]4th October 2015[/editline] but hey at least we shouldn't be in a drought any more.

No, I meant cali. They're in a severe ultra drought and here we are with billions of gallons.
I got to see a picture of the old place I worked on forest drive and the water was up past the patio and halfway over the door. Forest drive turned into a river.
There's pictures on Reddit of Graves being exhumed because of the water, crazy stuff.
