Story is still developing, but a tiny earthquake just rocked around in Canada, Vancouver appears to have gotten most of it.

I felt it. Shit was falling off the shelves and I almost lost my balance because I wasn't expecting it, obviously.
I just hope this isn't a precursor to a larger fault slip.

Can confirm, quake made the floor wobble under me for a moment. No damage.

shh. Don't even say that.
could this be caused by the fracking from before?

god i really need to put together my quake prep kit
jesus FUCK that scared me. earthquakes are goddamn terrifying.
Didn't really feel much, just felt like a large truck passing by.
But I guess this is what you expect in a fault zone.
could this be caused by the fracking from before?
The only thing in common between this and the fracking thing is an earthquake. This is what living on the ring of fire is like. Sometimes the earth just moves. One day, it's going to move a LOT and a lot of our shit's gonna get wrecked.
Me and my brother felt it. everything was shaking and wavey. When is the aftershock supposed to happen?
My butt jiggled a bit

I'm not sure it always does. They tell you in school to stay under the desk for a while just in case.

That's way, way, waaaay off in northeastern BC, not southwestern.

When the earth starts shaking and you thought you did one too many. It ruined my round of DOTA though because I was like nah I don't want to game anymore.
When it started I thought it was going to be the big one, it scared the shit out of me. First earthquake I've ever knowingly encountered.
Friends in California said they had a light earthquake a couple hours ago, is it possible the California tremor shook up the Canadian one?
My family doesn't have a bug out bag, rip soon.
I at least want to see Mt. Rainier explode in my life time, as for the big one, not so much.
What a combo breaker if the big one in California triggers the big one for the North West.
The vancouver subreddit seems to be prepared... :v:

Nope. Felt nothing.

It's pretty fucking scary that Global is literally the only one in the country bothering to mention anything, but bonus points because they're doing it . Nothing's being yapped about on CBC or CTV's national news stations, not even on CTV's BC station either.
Goes to show how unprepared Canada is for info delivery since it's that uncommon for any station to bust in to non-news programs about something, even when there's an F5 tornado banging on your city's doorstep (cough Elie, Manitoba in 2007) aside from a brief mention of "hey by the way there's a tornado warning for this area, we'll see you all at the 11 PM news!". Typically you'd need to rush to The Weather Network because they'd instantly go to Storm Watch mode, but they're already in that mode for Goliath out east as TWC down south named it, they're playing whatever the hell on repeat right now just like CTV and CBC.

I envy nations that use SMS for catastrophes/life threatening weather hazards. Much more practical at warning people and saving lives rather than sitting in front of a TV and seeing something on the news.

The US has one of the best warning systems IMO. Radio, TV, cellphones, its nearly impossible to avoid a severe hazard to life weather alert.
Relatively startling, spent the last half hour looking at emergency kits. So far they don't look great.
Fingers, toes, testes crossed that nothing more comes from this.
Can't really imagine this kind of stuff happening to Canada.. it's just too cold for natural disasters.
I for one remember the Ice Storm.
I felt it, I was worried about foreshocks for about 10 minutes then I didn't give a fuck.
Damn Canada. I actually just felt my first earthquake ever in my life last night. I lived in Texas my whole life and moved to Oklahoma a few months ago and felt a 4.2 earthquake last night and damn I had no idea what was going on until my twitter blew up about it lok.
I know it's tough, but just because there was an earthquake on a fault line doesn't mean it's THE earthquake so don't be too noided for no real reason. It's the Pac NW, shit happens.
jesus FUCK that scared me. earthquakes are goddamn terrifying.
I've never experienced myself, but I can't imagine how weird it must feel to have the one thing that's never moved in my life, the ground itself, suddenly start shaking under my feet.
