German censorship of games as well as movies has ben strict in the past, but has also gone through a phase of being more liberal. One victim of censorship though has been Mortal Kombat X, which up until now it seemed not available for sale in the country.
Some good news for German fans though, Mediabiz.de has reported that the game has managed to get an “Ab 18” rating, which means while the game is not suitable for children it can still be released.
Mortal Kombat X has proven to be a popular release, bringing Mortal Kombat back to what it does best. Although the PC version had problems on its release for the most part the console version was well received and has a sizable online community fighting it out to show who the best fighter is.

As a German this came a surprise since our state and it's rating boards (USK and BPjM) tend to be very strict on that subject.
I mean if you look at Mortal Kombat 1 - 9: Almost every title has either been put into the index or got outright banned.
"while the game is not suitable for children it can still be released"
well fucking obviously germany
its kind of ass backwards anyways like wasnt germany the pioneer of shitty homemade vhs porn while other countries tried their best to ban the same?
Germany, you need to re-work your video game censorship. At least this is one American's opinion.

It came out uncensored, so no problem. It's M rated like anywhere else.
I suspect the 3 months delay came from the publishers side, the USK is usually really quick in testing the games.

Sword fighting
About god damn time. Me and my friends got so mad when we found out it wasn't available.
It's not like it was surprising, but that doesn't mean it's fine.
Now there's hope that we see less censorship and bans in the coming years.

And then people can bash the Australians some more! Rightly so, we are continuing the trend (not as much as before but censorship continues to happen).
