There are reports of civilian casualties as government forces battle to retake the city from pro-Russia separatists, the city council said. Reports say powerful blasts and shooting were heard in the city. Ukrainian government forces have made steady gains in recent weeks, encircling Donetsk and another rebel stronghold, Luhansk. "As of 17:00 (14:00 GMT) in the Petrovksy district of Donetsk there are active military hostilities going on," Donetsk city council said on Tuesday, quoted by Ukraine's Unian news agency.
That looks like a BBQ trailer more than a generator.
That looks like a BBQ trailer more than a generator.
That might actually be one of their field kitchens, looks a bit like the swedish variant.
Here's hoping they'll win the fight soon. We're all rooting for you.
That might actually be one of their field kitchens, looks a bit like the swedish variant.
Grillin' for victory.
Ukraine army enters Donetsk
Kind of misleading.
Honestly, I hope the Ukrainians win. This bullshit has to stop some day.
probably won't stop them, they'll just fall back to the boarder and fight from there
Anyone ID that armor in front of the truck of guys? Strange how its a dusty tan color and not green.
They were in Donetsk ,Oblast one, now they have entered the Donetsk city in the suburbs Accurate, if you ask me
I mean, this sounds like they already have the city under control. There is a difference between "Heavy fighting has erupted in a suburb..." and "Ukraine army enters Donetsk" imo. Sorry if this sounds like nitpicking.
Heavy fighting has erupted in a suburb of the rebel stronghold of Donetsk
If it says they entered a suburb in Donetsk, it means they're in Donetsk. Nothing was said that they have control, merely just entered. They're a half-hour away.
If Putin and his little grabby hands don't butt in somehow, I think they've got this.
Anyone ID that armor in front of the truck of guys? I wonder if Russia has any of their own stationed in Donetsk.
Anyone ID that armor in front of the truck of guys? Strange how its a dusty tan color and not green.
They are rejects from the BTR-4 batch that the Iraqi army were meant to buy, which is why they are a tan colour

The army just retreated from a northern suburb and I believe neo-nazi militia 'Azov Battalion' has been in the southern parts for a few days now.
So, has the Ukraine government passed law's/taxes yet to fund their military, because last time I checked, they were almost out of cash to re supply the army?

For anyone here's a translation why they retreated, just so you don't get the wrong picture. Like Conscript is trying to create.
"Two days ago, Ukrainian troops came to this town, but there was a situation that threatened a large number of civilians, and the headquarters of the ATO has decided to move to the previous position on the outskirts of the city, not to harm civilians."
They retreated to avoid harming civilians. You're also confused how battalions work, as always, most of the Azov battalion members don't share national-socialistic views.
Loans work wonders. [editline]6th August 2014[/editline] Let me guess, source is some Ukrainian propaganda outlet.
No, common knowledge, Azov stands for Azov sea. Men are recruited from regions close to the sea. Is it really that hard for you to grasp? For example Donbass, Dnipro, Kharkiv battalion. The reason it has a higher amount of people who share those kind of views is because the people with national socialistic views are commanders. But saying it's the majority is dumb.

You could at least dig up a semi-impartial source with a quote from one of the commanders claiming such and try to pass it off as fact?
No source I suppose that means I was right? Do you require sources for everything? You could just you know, look at the names of the battalions and see it for yourself.
I'm sure you're going to be happy with a Russian source
No actually. I wouldn't be happy with any. Reason being it was clearly a member of the Azov Battalion who would say "we retreated to save civilian lives". They might have been getting flanked or run out of supplies but they understand the need for positive image. Kill 2 birds with one stone, look like you didn't retreat from a fight you were losing and at the same time look all high and mighty carping on about saving civilians. No matter what source quotes it if they use the words of one of their leaders it is propaganda. Putin himself could say that one of the Azov commanders said that and it would still be pro ukrainian propaganda because of where it first came from. Now please the source so we can determine if it did indeed come from a statement from the azov battalion any more beating around the bush and we can assume that it is and that it is indeed propaganda. Squirm I say! Squirm!
The sooner Ukraine stabilizes, the better for everyone. Putin khuilo

I don't know where you find your "sources" stating Andrei is an Azov battalion member.
