I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do love to play most of the Call of Duty's and racing games now and again. Although, my 8600gt 512mb is dying and falling to alot of games now. I'm wondering if the ATI Radeon HD 5750 1gb is a good enough card to max out games like World at War at 1860x1050?
My specs:
AMD Athlon 4200+ Dual Core 2.44ghz (Rated at 6.30ghz)
2GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit
I'm wondering how the card will perform on my computer? Fairly new to pc building so i'm giving it a go tomorrow :) My budget is of course around £110 due to the rest going to a decent PSU.
Also, would a 4850 1gb be better or the 5750 1gb?

Eyefinity should make up for the res, I really don't think you need 1gb. Because the 5770 is a powerful card, and even though it has lower memory it will still do wonderful.
I have one, it's more than satisfied me. It's surpassed my expectations. I manage to run fallout 3 at 1080p everything on highest and still get 40+ fps in heavy situations.

I saw that on comparisons especially for World at War, that it would give like 5-8 more fps and i was like, really? Of course me being new to all this, only know the basics :P

Vram does help the resolution, but cards can get more power out of lower memory and the 5770 can do that. Plus your res looks like more than one monitor setup, which is what Eyefinity is for and so the card should be able to do that with no problems. And if you look at the reviews at the website link I gave you, someone said

I thought 750w would be enough? Just my one at the moment was £25 and lasted me 2 years, slowly dying now.
The only problems I have had with overheating is dust. This is because my bedroom is quite small and I have a gap in my case where I got something removed. Overall, my pc has maxed out COD 4 in that time on that PSU before now.

Here's the thing cheaping out on a psu seems like a good idea to get better gear, but if the cheap psu goes (which it is likely to) then it will take a lot of hardware with it. So while you may save £25 it may end up costing you hundreds in the end.

if you can't afford a better one, save until you can, the risk is never worth it
shitty PSUs (e.g what that PSU is a prime example of) put your entire build at risk. consider this: a PSU is what controls how much power goes to each part in your system. shitty PSUs use shitty parts. imagine what happens when those shitty parts can't control the power correctly and send too much into a component

My current one has done fine, that's leaving it on 24/7 most days and weeks. I read a review finding a good PSU and it mentioned buying a no-name PSU means 'buying twice' and nothing about damaging. I am after all going for one thats 250-300v more than I need so even if that power hit a peak it should be fine. I could afford a better one within the next couple of months anyway.
Also, cheap PSU means you'll need to replace it sooner. Seriously consider getting a good one.

Considering my GPU is dying out as quick as paper being set on fire (maybe not that quick) i need something to last me a couple of months, when then will I have enough to afford a better one.
