Is it possible to cut a bullet in half while it is in flight?

Hey guys, i just wanted to know what everyone thinks is it possible to slice a bullet in half while it is actually in air.
No.
[editline]idk[/editline]
I guess I should explain my reasoning so I don't look like a complete dipshit. While it may be possible for something to accomplish a task such as this it's highly implausible, like several other people have stated in this thread. Once you factor in the average speed that the bullet is traveling out of the gun (which varies depending on the type of bullet the shooter is using) you'll also have to factor in weather or not the person is even capable or performing such a task, which is nearly impossible due to humans not having the speed, agility, or accuracy of being able to slice a bullet that's traveling at them hundreds of miles per hour in half. All in all it may be possible, but the event in which someone could actually perform something like this is highly unlikely.
with a katana
!!
Possible, I would think so. But the question is, who would be fast and strong enough to do that?

google says yes, but I don't humans quite have the reflexes to do it
Actually, yes. There was a video on WIMP awhile back of a quick draw master splitting a bullet in two.
also why would you even really care
it would still hit you anyway just in 2 slightly different spots
There has to be a way to do it like with some kind of red hot wire or metal idk its cool though.

No way a human could split a bullet. Amazing reflexes would be reacting in a matter 0.10 seconds. In order to split a bullet you would need to be able to respond in something like 0.01 seconds, not to mention your body would need to move incredibly fast as well.
split bullet, get shot twice
successful swordsman
Also splitting a bullet is simply a matter of finding a material harder than the bullet, and thinner than the bullet. Then if you shoot the bullet at that thin, hard object, the really hot soft metal will split in 2.
It is, but humans don't have the reflexes to do it
Even if both halves miss, the fact of the matter is that you've got another 30 coming your way.
Anyone else reminded of Davy Crockett-shooting-an-axe-to-hit-two-animals legend?
I don't think its being cut in half. More of it being ripped in half. There wouldn't be a clean cut.

And here I thought I was the only one

IIRC a rip is when 2 forces pull on either side of an object to separate it. 1 object or force separating an object would be a split or a cut. It doesn't have to be clean.
In theory yeah it's possible, but not plausible by any means
Yes, but not by a person.
There was a tv show about people with extraordinary abilities, one part was about this samurai trying to cut a bullet in half. He ended up hitting it so part splintered off, was amazing
Didn't Mythbusters do an episode on this?

I was just gonna say this. Yes, it's possible to split a bullet.
Theoretically? Perhaps.
Realistically? You brought a knife to a gun fight. You're going to die anyway.

Why don't you try it
Mythbusters proved it.
Why do you guys assume it has to be swordsman vs gunman in a fight? Its just a thought about if its physically possible.
It's possible but it's unlikely as FUCK.
1. You need a very sharp, thin blade/cutting tool.
2. The bullet needs to be flying absolutely perfectly.
