Do you think that if you asked an insanely rich, mostly kind person they'd give you money? Bill Gates for example, £5,000 to him is absolutely nothing, like literally absolutely nothing, if you were to get in direct contact and ask nice enough do you think he'd say yes?
no, its almost as pathetic as stealing
Doubt it
nah
why do I get the feeling you are somehow planning to contact bill gates and ask him for money
Sure if you came up with some sort of convincing sob story.
maybe if you were like his friend or something doubt it though

Plus he has no reason to give you that money.
no because then everybody would ask him, like valve with the autograph thing
DSC_0074 by Jamie Girvan, on Flickr No regrets.
If they said yes to you, would they have to say yes to the thousands of others who would instantly start pestering them? If you think the answer is no, what makes you so special?
maybe if you were like his friend or something doubt it though
yeah if you'd be a friend of his and ask for 5000$ he'd think 'he's only being nice to me so he can have some money from me'

Well, obviously, there's also "No rule without exception".
If you've got a cause that interests them then it might work, a relative of mine recently got given funds by John Hurt just by writing a short letter to him to pursue an acting/theatre course
Problem with asking for money from a rich person is that you'd first need to be a very sad case. Even sadder than the millions of other sad people. Because this person obviously can't give money to some random sad person, otherwise his money would be worthless as he would not even be able to give enough money to everyone to make a phone call with.

Damn
As much as $5000 is nothing to the top .01% of rich people; you can't. Why? If they do it once, even for the saddest of sob-stories; then people will reign down upon that poor individual like a flood, all begging for money.
