Does Patreon really not support accepting donations in Pounds or Euros? Grade lives in the UK and he has to accept USD. It's not that huge of a deal since the currency can convert easily, but I would imagine that he would prefer to work with a currency that he's more familiar with.
I can't help but think that, despite what he says, he is going to regret giving his phone number away like that. It's not going to matter if he tweets when he's ready to talk on the phone, he will get called/messaged at all hours of the day and his number could potentially leak to non-backers.

I kind of wish youtubers didn't have to resort to patreon, but I'm really glad patreon exists because youtube didn't make a service like it available already. I think youtube red might be similar but patreon is so much better for directly funding who you want to make videos

From what I understand they kinda have to. Youtube doesn't pay as well as it used to as I understand it, and guidelines are stricter. Patreon provides a lot of people the means they need to actually live properly off their content.
This is also why more people are going to start taking sponsorships and shit
