I don't see the problem with what happened. Was the soldier supposed to arrest 3 people who were acting violent towards both the activist and him? Was he supposed to shoot them all? It looks like he did all he could.

The IDF have, in the past, stood idly by as settlers went with guns out of their settlements and started slaughtering Palestinians. Scum of the Earth.
