Likewise, there are no breadcrumbs to follow in the character's considerable comic book run. In fact, there's really no where to look except for the minds of those who have worked on the script. According to an interview with French site FilmsActu.com (via Bleeding Cool), Snyder's "Superman" won't take any cues from previous films or comic books. Instead, the DC Comics icon will return to his early days as a crimefighter in a wholly original story. "As I have already explained, the film will focus on early days of Superman, so there will be no links with other films," said Snyder. "This is not a remake then. Similarly, although I still can not talk about the script, I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on a comic book in particular." Snyder's comments are interesting for a number of reasons. Without ties to the previous "Superman" films, it's now more likely than ever that Brandon Routh will not have a part to play in the reboot. Further, by focusing on the "early days of Superman," the chances of an older actor like Jon Hamm donning the red-and-blue tights are significantly lessened as well. As for the comment that this film won't "be based on a [particular] comic book," it seems that we can shut down the early speculation that Snyder's reboot would follow in the footsteps of Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu's "Birthright."
What's the point then?
This is stupid, how can you make a comic book movie and not base it on the comic books??
This is stupid, how can you make a comic book movie and not base it on the comic books??
It's called imagination. Besides, this way you can't be disappointed when it's not faithful to the comic book
Dear LORD he's doing something that no one else has done what is this travesty?
This is stupid, how can you make a comic book movie and not base it on the comic books??
The Dark Knight.
No comic book movie so far has been 100% faithful to its origins. It's alright to deviate I guess.
So It'll be basically [img_thumb]http://www.dan-dare.org/Dan%20Mario/SuperMarioBros-TheMovie.jpg[/img_thumb] But with superman
so from the looks of that poster it's going to be completely fucking awesome then
Finally. Now this is reassurance of some creativity. The character will obviously be based on the comics, but it will be made a lot deeper into the psychology and happenings of Superman. Great news :v:
Why are they rebooting it? All they needed to do was make one that didn't suck.
so from the looks of that poster it's going to be completely fucking awesome then
You never watched that movie, then.

He's going to make Smallville into a movie.
He's going to make Smallville into a movie.
That has been done to death more than the movies have.
The Dark Knight.
Was gonna say that. The Dark Knight was only loosely based on the Batman Comics, taking a tiny bit of material from a few of them. And it was fucking amazing.
If Batman: Arkham Asylum was made into a movie it would be a freaking badass movie. The Dark Knight felt kind of empty with only Joker and Two Face as villains, if there would be Killer Croc and Scarecrow then that would be fucking cool.
Oh shit, something is actually going to be original. Who let this happen? /sarcasm
I'd quite like a Kingdom Come film.
