• Some questions about getting an ATV and the license.

I've been thinking of getting a motorcycle license, and recently my dad offered to get me an ATV license. Thing is, I don't know what I should do. I'm 16, old enough for an ATV license here in Portugal, but I don't know if it's a good idea to go through it because the car license is at 18, just 2 years away. I also don't know if I would get the car license at 18 since I have been thinking of joining the marines when I finished school, going through the marine course and then going for a higher rank (requiring me to study in the navy), so I don't know if I would get much use for the car. Some of the doubts I have about it are that I don't know if it's worth it to spend the money getting the ATV license and an ATV at 16, then I'd also like to go to school one day or another in it, if I needed to stay longer in school or something along those lines, I don't even know if it would be worth it to do such long trips on the bike, it's about a 15-20km trip. And if I did get it, I would probably be thinking about an Yamaha Blaster 200 used. If someone would be kind enough to enlighten me it would be great, thanks.
You guys have to get ATV licenses? Just get a small cc motorcycle.
in Norway you can drive any size of ATV as long as you got the car license
The ATV license is a subcategory of the car license. It's basically the same as the car only you can drive ATVs at 16. And I'm not sure about a motorcycle. I'm not very inclined for a two wheel vehicle, I need to be convinced otherwise.
the rules are different from country to country :v:
ATV license? In my country, as long as it has 4 tires, you'll need a car license. ATV aren't that worth for long trips. I used to have one and only use it for like, 2-3km max.
afaik in NJ you just need to register the ATV but cant ride on roads unless the cops arent faggots.
ATVs are cool, so are motorcycles. To be honest, you'll probably have fun with either.
I'd just like to know if it's capable of doing a 20km trip without having to worry about fuel or the time to finish the trip. I wouldn't be speeding it either.

Who rides an ATV on the road everywhere? If I'm riding one, there better be some steep muddy hills and a creek somewhere.
It's not everywhere. Its main use would be for playing around with friends on the hills. I'd just like to know if it would be capable of doing such a trip normally if I eventually needed it to. It wouldn't be everyday either, maybe once or twice a month.
