Pope Francis's life is in danger from 'ndrangheta, Italy's most feared crime group, a leading anti-mafia judge has claimed.
Nicola Gratteri, a magistrate in the southern city of Reggio Calabria, near 'ndrangheta's heartland, has said the Pontiff's crackdown on financial corruption in the Vatican, has angered bosses in the brutal crime syndicate, which is thought to rule Europe's cocaine trade.
They all look so happy to be escorting the Pope.
How about no, Godfathers?
Oh, but there's going to be squalls if they try to assassinate the Pope. I hope it doesn't come to that, but knowing the Mafia, that's probably unlikely.
If they do, they will get murdered. Hard.
It'd be an impressively audacious way to get even more legal attention placed on their activities
but I like Pope Francis :(

Your avatar fits very well.
I thought Italian Mafiosos were strong Catholics.
If the Italian mob was any more catholic they could apply to be counted as a religious institution.

I suppose it was already hypocritical of them to be staunch Catholics and murder, traffic drugs and women. Now I guess they're becoming more open about their hypocrisy.
If Pope Francis dies, 1) this will be an incredible loss for the world, and 2) holy shit mafia are you trying to start a civil insurrection or something

God is one thing, but business is business, capice? :v:
I thought Italian Mafiosos were strong Catholics.
Only when it fits with what they want to do.
I thought Italian Mafiosos were strong Catholics.
Sometimes, when the business gets eaten into past a certain extent, even traditions may leave the scene for the sake of survival.
That picture just made me think of:

Maybe they want to kill him because he's espousing ideas that they don't like?
It isn't as though all catholics agree with every pope, and I bet mafia bosses aren't the type to think:
"Oh well, it's just his opinion."

Then I guess Alexander VI would have been the best of buds with N'drangheta, were he pope at this time. :v:
yo no wonder his life's in danger look at that fucking guy behind him with an assault device pointed right at his head holy shit stop whizzing about in the car and get out of there before he shoots
Francis is gonna expose their sacramental wine racket.
but I like Pope Francis :(
I don't even believe in the existence of the divine and I respect the heck out of the guy.
Knowing how relatively radical Pope Francis is, I'm surprised a threat like this hadn't come sooner.
Yeah, murder the Pope in a strongly Catholic nation, that's sure to go down well.
How do such morons survive in a criminal organisation?
I wonder if the previous popes weren't targets because they were in good with the Mafia.
I doubt it. Everyone knows who these mob bosses are. If they did anything people would be at their houses with pitchforks and tourches.

Honestly, he seems like such a nice person it's probably hard to be unhappy around him.

By being smarter than all the other criminals.

Isn't the Vatican Bank used to launder money?
Isn't the Vatican Bank used to launder money?
But the church caught the launderers. They're now in big trouble at present.

Maybe 40 years ago, when 8 out of 10 people actually cared about religion. Today most people don't give a shit about it, including Mafia members.
It's not gonna go over well if they kill a man who has become so beloved by people.
I'm somehow imagining if he did die that his successor would declare a Crusade against them and you'll see a bunch of dudes being chopped up by swords or someshit.
Okay I've been playing Crusader Kings II too much..
