Hey guys,
I am getting the Alienware Aurora, and was wondering what graphics card I should get. I'll be running on 12gigs of RAM, and I want to be able to run Crysis on full graphics, no lag. (my brother does that on his)
What's available:
Single 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5870
Single 1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 480
Single 2GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5970
Single 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460
Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5670 CrossfireX™ Enabled (this is what comes with the comp)
Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5770 CrossfireX™ Enabled
Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 Crossfire™ Enabled
Dual 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460 - SLI Enabled
What my bro has: (which isn't available as an upgrade)
Nvidia GeForce GTS 240
I am clueless with graphics cards, and since I want to get my comp set up and not end up going into the internals again, I would like to know what I should get. (I want whatever is equivelent or the next step up to what my bro has)
Thanks!

Save your brother $1500 and build it. Any of those cards would run crysis at full graphics (single 460s would but not at 8x aa)
don't buy an alienware desktop, build it
Wow, quick responses. Since I'm still a minor and my parents are funding my purchase, I can't custom build it. Baconman, which one would you recommend the most? Just stay with the one that come with it since it's as good at the Nvidia, or should I try to upgrade.

+1
convince them to let you build it
Convince them, it's easy to build it if you just look at a good guide. Just tell them it will save you a lot of money.

automerge :ninja:
Don't buy Alienware stuff and go for the GTX460.
Oh my god man, okay listen up. Alienware is shit. It is shit and will always be shit. It's a waste of money, it will break within a month, the support will refuse to talk to you then your fucked. I'm a lazy ass so i cant tell you all the reasons why Alienware sucks, but trust me.
If you REALLY cant build then use this. http://pc.ncix.com/pcbuilder/ Select one of the base PC's, change the parts you want and your in business.

Oh and PS. Your brother is full of shit, the GT240 sucks.
Alienware :barf:
Build it. Please.

Wait aren't you an illiterate too?
No. I have an expensive build planned and when I asked in what PSU to get I was trolled by a bunch of midrange mikes. I also used to mix up core and CPU a lot and occasionally still do.
Your still dumb aren't you

1. My bros alienware is fine, and has worked great (although I thought the graphics card wouldnt be great, despite the fact it looks fairly good)
2. We've always had fairly good support with dell
My dad is pretty much open to the idea of custom building, so could you guys help me out with parts? I really have no clue what I should be getting, at all.

That was not a troll, you dumb, but a fact.
Mainly because you were too stubborn to understand your build was overpriced but especially ridiculous. (No SSD, Tri-SLI setup and no professional cards, etc...)
So the term for me is illiterate?
misinformed instead, especially the fact you don't 12Gb of RAM to run a game.
What's your budget, by the way? (1500$ ? If so, a single GTX 480/Quad-Core processor could be good)
[editline]07:41PM[/editline]
i mean, for a custom build, of course

Yeah the Alienware was around 1500, so that's what I'm looking at. Also I just added the RAM in to see if it made any difference. Just wondering, whats a good site for chassis? I know comps are all about the internals, but I want to get a nice looking chassis thats original, kind of like the Aurora.

Don't be an asshole.
OP, you should really consider making a new topic in the PC Building section, the people there are mostly friendly and will gladly help you out if you don't know what you're doing.
Also, Something Awful has a good thread on PC building. Here's a link, you should give it a read-over.

Why is he dumb? Because he wanted 3 GTX 470s and you guys are all assholes about it for whatever reason?
If you are from USA, take a look on newegg.com (or if you are in UK, go on Ebuyer and scan.co.uk)
A case is all about personal preference, but according to your post (and for your components), the HAF X (or 932) is the best airflow case to have.
Don't go for 1366 greddy socket (i7 930 and +), but a good 1156 socket (i5 750/i7 870). That's let you to have excellent others components , like your graphic card, HDD, PSU, etc...
Ah, and 12GB of RAM do nothing in performance. 4Gb is more than enough actually.
[editline]07:57PM[/editline]
Oh by the way, I forget it, do you need keyboard/mice and a monitor? An OS?
My friend actually told me to check out newegg,so I will. I'm going to start a new thread once I'm done with the thread Snuffy linked. I have everything I need, although a new mouse would be nice. (My speakers are fine, my moniter is pretty damn awesome IMO, and the keyboard is average) I'm going to be going with Windows 7 premium as my OS.
Wait aren't you an illiterate too?
Don't know you, but FYI, only knowing which GPU is better, how to build computers and stuff like that doesn't make you literate either
Why is he dumb? Because he wanted 3 GTX 470s and you guys are all assholes about it for whatever reason?
Well first of all, remember his thread about the "suspicious core".

With your budget, a whole new PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse is possible while still leaving a ton of money for your OS. That is just how badly Alienware would rip you off.

And the fact he doesn't seem to understand the meaning of money. (Spending $600 on a Garrysmod gamemode, just to get scammed by the creator, who scammed everyone who has bought from him in the past).
Okay, you guys can discuss axiom here as I started a new thread: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=25069950#post25069950
thanks for anyone who already helped, hopefully you will continue to help me in my conquest for a beast computer.
