She was wounded by a buckshot shot last Wednesday during the protests that were realized in the capital city of Carabobo. Liseth Madia, cousin of Geraldine Moreno Orozco, said yesterday before knowing itself the news that the university student and athlete of Carabobo than 23 years of age was shot by members of the Venezuelan National Guard (Bolivarian National Guard) in the face on Wednesday night on February 19 during a protest in the town of Naguanagua in Tazajal sector. "That was around 8:00 pm in front of his house in Bayonne homes Country I, it was cowardly assault with a weapon that shoots buckshot which were not of plastics but rather pellets were metal" The student of the fifth semester of Cytotechnology on the University Arthur Michelena, was with four friends and from his residence watching Persons protesting on the corner of the street where there was an roadblock when to the site six members of the GNB arrived on motorcycles to disperse the protest. All those present run. "She (running) turned around when the people were coming behind her and fell off because was shot and giving him close to the face, then when she tried to get up, returned to shoot him again in the face
(In spanish) http://www.eluniversal.com/nacional-y-politica/140222/murio-la-estudiante-geraldine-moreno sorry for the horrible translation (as in another of my translations is not the best in the world but it's something)
"She (running) turned around when the people were coming behind her and fell off because was shot and giving him close to the face, then when she tried to get up, returned to shoot him again in the face
Unless this is wrongly translated, this is a fucking execution.
"Returning to shoot him again in the face": Is this meant to say 'returning to shoot her', or is it implying she had a weapon on her?
It is a very poor translation, but from what I can understand, the girl was watching the protests from her yard with a group of friends when the guard showed up. The guardsmen started shooting, and she was hit as she tried to run. The guard person who shot her then walked over and executed her as she tried to get back up.
Unless this is wrongly translated, this is a fucking execution
. The National Guard is very aggressive when the protests began, someone showed a picture of her arriving at hospital with part of his face very destroyed by gunfire (until the right eye, they left a hole by the shots and according to the doctors tried everything possible to save her (and if I survived going to be blind because the shots shattered his eyes)
"Returning to shoot him again in the face": Is this meant to say 'returning to shoot her', or is it implying she had a weapon on her?

It is a very poor translation, but from what I can understand, the girl was watching the protests from her yard with a group of friends when the guard showed up. I only speak one language, so it'd be pretty hypocritical to ride your ass about having some difficulties with your second! [editline]22nd February 2014[/editline]
The Venezuelan student Geraldine Moreno Orozco died after being operated on for eight hours in the city of Valencia. A student of Cytotechnology at the university, Arthur Michelena, was with four friends, watching the protest from the corner of the street near his home, when six members of the GNB arrived on motorcycles. The protestors began to flee, but Orozco was shot near the head, and collapsed. As she tried to get up, the guardsman who shot her approached and fired a second round into her face.
Here, this might be a bit easier. What a horrific story this is.
Proper translation
The student was in her porch watching the demonstrations happening when she was hit by a rubber bullet in her eye, her aunt tells. It's the second student that dies during the protests in the state of Carabobo. The first student was the beauty pageant Génesis Carmona (22)

proper translation
The student was with four friends and from her residence she observed the people who were protesting in the corner of the street where there was a barricade, when 6 members of the National Guard in bikes to disperse the demonstrations. All those present ran away. "She turned around when people were coming towards her direction and she tripped because they shot at her and the bullets scraped her face, then when she tried to stand up, she was shot again in the face and that's when they destroyed her face" explained Madía.
So the story that the newspaper gives and the account of the aunt differ; The newspaper claims a rubber bullet got to her eye, and the aunt says they intentionally shot at her and destroyed her whole face. Kind of confusing, even with a proper translation.
Nonon wait, that's wrong...let me instead try:
La estudiante estaba frente a su casa viendo las manifestaciones cuando fue alcanzada por un disparo de perdigones en un ojo según relató su tía. Es la segunda estudiante que fallece durante las jornadas de protesta en Carabobo. La primera estudiante que murió fue la modelo y estudiante Génesis Carmona (22)
The student was in front of her house (Doesnt mean porch. Must mean on the streets) watching the manifestation when she was hit by pellets (NT:Perdigones means pellets not rubber bullets) her aunt says. Its the second student to die during manifestations in Carabobo. The first student to die was the model and student genesis carmona. [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] No wait you're right regarding the "porch". She wasnt on the streets. She was on a porch or in her lane/sidewalk (I find odd a house having a porch in LATAM). The first account is not that detailed. Doesnt explain how she got hit whereas the second one does

Kind of confusing, even with a proper translation.
you're reading it wrong. a bullet got to her face, because somebody shot her in the face.
cuando fue alcanzada por un disparo de perdigones en un ojo según relató su tía
The summary of the news mentions only one eye, and even makes it sound like the bullet just hit her, no that someone actively shot at her. This isn't really a matter of anyone interpreting the news article wrong, it's just that whoever wrote it is an idiot. Extremely confusing piece.
Google her name and you'll see the gunshot wound. Pretty graphic
Google her name and you'll see the gunshot wound. Pretty graphic
I just did, and...
"...when she was struck by a buckshot round to her eye, her aunt recalled". it's literally what happened, they fired a shotgun round point blank to her face aiming at the eye. i saw the pictures.
After searching the type of shotgun normally used by the Guardia Nacional de Venezuela, the Remington 870, I can conclude several things about what happened when she was shot: - She was definitely shot point-blank based on the spread pattern and the fact that she took the shot cup (and a good portion of the shot) to the right eye. - The shot was not less-lethal, she was hit by 00 buckshot which is not used for being nice, it's meant to kill motherfuckers. - The shot to the face would not have been fatal if the shooter wasn't so close, but she was definitely knocked unconscious if she wasn't already so from the fall. - Based on the angle of the impact I'd say her head was turned slightly to the left, the shooter had to of looked her directly in the face before firing. - After inspecting the pool of blood in other pictures I can say she was definitely shot while on her back, and I think I can see ricochet marks on the asphalt further indicating she was shot in that position. I cannot come up with any other conclusion than she was shot in a vulnerable, helpless position with intent to kill; this woman was definitely executed.
