I give it a day before it's cracked and can be loaded with every NES rom.
if it's hdmi and properly upscales the games and has genuine nes controllers i'll buy one [editline]14th July 2016[/editline] i'm glad their putting they're pokemon go money to good use
If my old NES controllers work with this, what a magical time it'll be. Hope it's reasonably priced.
I wonder if it'll be like that Neo Geo reboot, literally running roms off an SD card At least it'll be basically impossible for them to fuck up NES emulation though right?

It comes with the full list of playable games and it has HDMI support. The controller port is the one that the Wii Remote uses for the Nunchuk and the Classic Controller.

Relive the 80s when the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System launches in stores on 11th November. The classic NES is back in a familiar-yet-new form as a mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console. Plugging directly into a high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable, the console comes complete with 30 NES games built-in, including beloved classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN and Kirby’s Adventure. The Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System comes packaged with an HDMI cable, a USB cable for powering the system*, and one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller. And whether it’s rediscovering an old favourite or experiencing the joy of NES for the first time, the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system should have something for all players.

Each title is sure to bring back fond memories and produce plenty of new ones. Players can even enjoy playing many of these games together by attaching a second Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller, sold separately. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro for the Wii console can also be used. The Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii console. Simply connect it to a Wii Remote controller to make the experience that much more authentic. Players needn’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress either as each game has multiple suspend points, allowing them to start where they left off at a later time, no passwords needed.

The included titles are: Balloon Fight BUBBLE BOBBLE Castlevania™ Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest™ Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Jr. DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE Dr. Mario Excitebike FINAL FANTASY® Galaga™ GHOSTS‘N GOBLINS™ GRADIUS™ Ice Climber Kid Icarus Kirby’s Adventure Mario Bros. Any news anywhere on what the cost might be? Or if it'll even come out in Australia?
Note that an AC adapter for the USB cable is required to play the system but is not included in the packaging.
What the fuck is wrong with nintendo? Why do they keep on not including power adapters? Either way, this looks pretty cool. Can't wait for ashens to review it. Wish Sony would do something similar with the ps1, as that's my nostalgia console of choice.

Wow, no Contra. I thought Contra was one of THE games to have or play back then. It was my favorite for sure
Wow, no Contra. I thought Contra was one of THE games to have or play back then. It was my favorite for sure
It was banned and censored in a lot of countries. It's not a big surprise that it's not on the list.

It saves on a lot of components and cables when you can have users bring their own power supply and USB is an easy 5 volts.
It was banned and censored in a lot of countries. It's not a big surprise that it's not on the list.
Specifically Germany had a huge hateboner for Contra. Which makes me curious whether Ninja Gaiden will still release as Ninja Gaiden in the UK and not Shadow Warrior, as UK at the time had banned the word "Ninja" from appearing anywhere.

100 bucks is pretty good for what you get, I'm considering getting one
No Dragon Warrior :suicide:
Dang, no Paperboy. Pretty decent selection though.
Wow, no Contra. I thought Contra was one of THE games to have or play back then. It was my favorite for sure
...and looking into it, contra isn't on nintendo's eshop in the UK or US at all, according to their sites, while both have Super C. very interesting...
If you still have your old cartridges lying around you can just get a Super Retro Trio that apparently plays them all.
deffo getting one for the hdmi / games alone. I never want to set up my nes and I don't have that many nes games because the market for them here is low stock high demand atm, and most non tat games are really expensive.
Seems like Nintendo made a lot of good decisions with this. Got some good third parties on board and went the HDMI route with cross-system controller compatibility. The fact that it has save states and HDMI means it isn't just some shitty SoC clone like all the other "mini classic" systems. It'll be more akin to Virtual Console. And compared to VC, this is actually a great deal. $60 USD for thirty games that would cost $150 on VC. And of course this will surely be hacked to load every NES game. Also what a genius idea it was to use the Classic Controller port for its controllers. I don't really think I'll buy the system itself since I still have my Famicom, but I might buy one of those new controllers just to use on Wii U.
This is super neat. Definitely getting one.
Hopefully this is really improved over older models, because I got a RetroN 3 a few years ago that does the exact same thing and it was a piece of crap. It could play the games, but major sound issues and visual quirks galore, especially on Konami games, it didn't support things like the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on cart, and the wireless controllers it came with were complete and utter poop.
All we need now is a Mini-Zapper and a Mini-R.O.B. and it'll be perfect.

And I much prefer it because of that because while Emulation has it's perks with the Retron 5, I believe the 5 actually has slightly less compatability over all compared to the Super Retro Trio, which plays it off of the cartridge like a normal NES/SNES/Genesis would, it also plays all of those games that usually don't play due to having some kind of "SFX Chip" or weird gimmick, it's literally compatible with almost everything, though the perks of the Retron 5 mean you can play more consoles over all and GB/GBA games and software updates to the emulation software could very well improve compatibility over time, I much prefer the Super Retro Trio just because hardware beats software emulation in this case. Plus it's less expensive than this mini Entertainment system and if you have the cartridges which aren't really hard to obtain these days, you might as well buy the trio instead of buying one of these, though I guess you could buy one of these for novelty reasons.
