OEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — A smug activist who was TASERed outside a courtroom after violating court rules for videotaping claims officials were the ones in the wrong.
Robert Peterson, 21, who was contesting a citation for riding his bike at night without a light, showed up to his hearing at Kootenai County court with a video camera in hand, according to My Fox Spokane.
When he moved toward the court room, officials calmly refused entry, telling him he could not enter with a camera unless he produced a press permit, which is required under Idaho state code in order to record proceedings.
Peterson refused to shut off his camera, even as more bailiffs gathered and repeated the command. One instructed him to "leave the camera with your mother outside," but he continued to refuse.
When he then tried to get past two officers blocking the door to the court room, one of them deployed a TASER. He was handcuffed and booked into Kootenai County Jail on charges of battery against a police officer and criminal contempt.
Peterson told KXLY he is exempt from most laws due to his political beliefs, which he insists give him the right to film, making the dispute “definitely unwarranted.”
He will appear in court next month.
And, of course, the video is in the source.

he totally had it coming but the TASER was kind of unnecessary imo

Yeah good luck with that, we seen how that went for him the first time.
Go a head and try again, I'm sure they have more taser cartridges with his name on it.
By far the best taser video I've seen yet, so props to him for capturing such a magical event.

I remember that video :v:
Oh man it made news.
Peterson told KXLY he is exempt from most laws due to his political beliefs, which he insists give him the right to film, making the dispute “definitely unwarranted.”
I wonder if even he actually believes this.
that video is hilarious
"AAUGH AAAA"

I'm exempt from laws regarding public nudity because my political beliefs say so
he totally had it coming but the TASER was kind of unnecessary imo
The video clearly shows he was okay after he was tased. He only reacted like a berk, they could have tased him again.
seems justified to me, he was told to back off several times and didn't do so, and tried to force his way in. the cunt got what he deserved
Wow what a dick
What an arsehole.
This was over in the Videos section, this guy is crazy and really ridiculous throughout the entire video, so I think he kind of deserved it, he barely even seemed affected by it anyways.
Ha holy shit that was abrupt

My bullshit detector! Dagnabbit, I just fixed this thing!
He didn't really try to get in using force so the taser was rather unnecessary.

How the hell does your political belief exempt you from laws?
Only money is capable of doing that and connections.

Oh, I didnt think of looking there first before posting this. I just saw the article
He didn't really try to get in using force so the taser was rather unnecessary.
Uh, trying to push and force your way in is not force? What world are you living in.
He was told by an officer to step back and leave the camera. He could have went in without the camera but the idiot decided he was a know it all. He then went in to the officers personal space, he was pushed back and tasered before the situation can get out of hand. He was given plenty of warning and knew the conditions of entering a government building.
Using physical force would have been much more dangerous.
That guy was asking for trouble and he got it.
What an idiot

He tried to enter but was blocked by the security guys, then he stepped back a little and started bragging about how his rights were infringed and the security guy tasered him.
I don't think it was really necessary.
He tried to enter but was blocked by the security guys, then he stepped back a little and started bragging about how his rights were infringed and the security guy tasered him.
So it wasn't really necessary.
I thought it was necessary to make me laugh.

refused to listen to commands
I just love the guy's laugh in the first part of the video. Like he knows the man who's filming is just a raging jackass.
I don't think the TAZER was necessary, but it was kinda funny

He tried walking right through them, so P. Barns pushed him back and tazed him. You cant just try to push past officers like that and expect them to not do anything.

He tried to force his way into a room he was told several times he wasn't allowed into with a camera. When the officers pushed him back, he didn't back off as he was instructed too, even after the officer drew his tazer. Seems pretty justified to me.
He seems all "fuck the feds", but he is talking to state employees and was cited under a state code. The feds had nothing to do with it.
P Barns is badass.
That's the most relaxed I've seen a guy shoot a taser in history.
i like that E Smith
I don't know why but that dead pan "Step back" BAM was just great.

No he fucking didn't, he stood his ground and kept running his mouth. He should've backed off as soon as he saw the taser, but he kept coming.
