[release]TELEGRAPHPubs set to serve beer in two-thirds of a pint glasses - The Government has decided to end more than 300 years of history by relaxing the law on pub glass sizes. Currently beer can only be served in pint, half and third of a pint measures. But in future, assuming the measure gets through Parliament next Spring, these will be joined by glasses that contain two thirds of a pint. Industry leaders hope that the new glasses – already in use in Australia, where they are known as schooners – will help boost flagging sales. But there is already opposition to the move. The chief executive of The Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Paul Watters, said there was “no call” for the new glasses. This is not going to happen right now, they have just announced it. In Before: "This country is going down the shitter".
It doesn't really explain well... Is it replacing everything? Or as well as? It says "Joined" So why is this even bad if it isn't replacing? The media...pfft.
Someone think of the children.
Why does something like that need to be replaced?
yay this shit isn't happening in scotland, suck it the rest of the uk
Why would/will there be a shitstorm? It says they can still serve pint/half pint so what's the problem?
So pubs can serve beer in a different sized glass. where is the big deal here. [editline]03:58PM[/editline]
yay this shit isn't happening in scotland, suck it the rest of the uk
OH FUCK OUR PUBS CAN SERVE DIFFERENT SIZED GLASSES, I'M MOVING TO SCOTLAND
yes, keep it they way it should be, don't break the tradition I say
...the tradition of not being allowed a different sized beer? are you kidding me
...the tradition of not being allowed a different sized beer? are you kidding me
no, how stupid would you think the person asking for 2/3 of a pint would be, really
Should be litre-based like bottles/cans anyway.
Should be litre-based like bottles/cans anyway.
But "Can I have a Litre" sounds wrong. "Can I have a pint" sounds correct.
WE RECOGNIZE: -The government is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new bottle sizes. -Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of the two-third pint glasses until their release. -Pint glasses were, and are, a quality glass which deserve the praise of the entire alcoholic community.

Good to see the people in charge are focusing on the real big issues! :eng99:
This is not Nationstates, and your Delegate hasn't voted on this Issue anyway.
what
what
Never mind then.
This countries going down the shitter.
I was just making an almost-funny joke implying that you should boycott this L4D2-style man
I was just making an almost-funny joke implying that you should boycott this L4D2-style man
Ah, now I understand.
You can order a third of a pint? Who knew And it's not like they're getting rid of pints so calm down
I'll stick to my pints thank you very much, but having a new variety of drink size wont do any harm.
What a waste of time and money, all these pubs are going to have to spend loads of money on new glass sizes for no real advantage. Who cares about having 2/3 of a pint, just have a pint or half a pint, it makes far more sense.

Flagging sales? My arse. [editline]04:59PM[/editline]
What a waste of time and money, all these pubs are going to have to spend loads of money on new glass sizes for no real advantage. So this is a comfortable compromise
I can see the reason for half a pint if you want something quick and only 1, 3/4 not so much. I think I'll stick to pints.
Flagging sales? My arse.
Apparently because of the recession people aren't going out and drinking as much Whereas you would expect because of the recession people want to go out and get wrecked more
Who really cares? Drinking slowly kills you anyway, and doesn't help you solve any problems. Except having sex with a hot chick. But you wouldn't remember it.
