(CNN) – President Barack Obama said in an interview published Sunday he took no offense at Clint Eastwood's prime-time address at the Republican National Convention, in which the legendary actor and director posed questions to an empty chair, which he said represented the Democratic incumbent. "One thing about being president or running for president - if you're easily offended, you should probably choose another profession," Obama told USA Today. Eastwood's speech came the same night Mitt Romney accepted the Republican presidential nomination in Tampa, Florida. The sprawling, off-the-cuff address drew criticism from some, who said Eastwood's unorthodox remarks overshadowed Romney. The Republican nominee's advisers wrote off the criticism, saying the crowd found Eastwood's remarks funny. "He's a great messenger. The guy is an American treasure," Romney senior strategist Stuart Stevens said. Obama agreed with that sentiment in the USA Today interview, calling Eastwood "a great actor, and an even better director." "I think the last few movies that he's made have been terrific," the president added. That appreciation, however, doesn't mean Democrats will try to mimic Eastwood's performance at their own confab, slated to begin in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday. "I think we'll be playing this pretty straight," Obama said.
Source: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/02/obama-no-offense-taken-at-eastwood-speech/
I watched it this morning, holy shit was it not funny. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] Clint Eastwood is still pretty great, he just isn't the best at political standup.
One thing about being president or running for president - if you're easily offended, you should probably choose another profession,
Unbelievably true.
Unbelievably true.
In the US at least. I still find it horrendous how they're allowed to disgrace each others like that. This is reminding me more of a reality show than an election.

He was implying that politicians are the employees of the rest of the populace.
Eastwood does make some fucking good movies.
Unbelievably true.
I think those words apply to all humanity tbh.

Eastwood is still a bro, he did better than what most people would of.
It was pretty painful to watch to be frank, he seems like a confused old fart.
It was pretty painful to watch to be frank, he seems like a confused old fart.
Pretty sure he was doing it on purpose
Eastwood is still a bro, he did better than what most people would of.
He's not a bro, he's a liberal Chuck Norris who is too old and doddering to speak in public any more. Who the fuck could be a "bro" who endorses a disaster like Romney/Ryan? Word use suggestion: If you're going to write "he did better than what most people would of." change the last word to have, unless you were attempting a Clint Eastwood confused grammar impression. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
Pretty sure he was doing it on purpose
What was the point of it, then? Is Eastwood secretly trying to discredit the Republicans? I find it hard to believe that he only pretended to need a defibrillator.

When I run for President I'll have Gabe Newell make the speech. By then he will be a legend. & then he will argue with a computer that is off because he will be really old.
Sorry, I didn't know the grammar gestapo was in town.
That's not a grammar mistake, that's just plainly the wrong word.
In the US at least. I still find it horrendous how they're allowed to disgrace each others like that. It doesn't matter what you say, or do, It's about what you keep from saying and hide, while the other side, doing the same thing, tries to make you say and show Or something
They're guilty until proven guilty.
Well, I know Obama is going to win this election simply because even FOX news ripped the asshole out of Ryan
Anyone seen this? http://twitter.com/InvisibleObama It's hilarious. [editline]3rd September 2012[/editline] It got more new followers than Romney & Ryan put together did after the RNC.
Well, I know Obama is going to win this election simply because even FOX news ripped the asshole out of Ryan
Except Ryan isn't running for president, Romney is. Ryan as VP is virtually harmless. The most he'll do is reside over the senate and stand beside Romney whenever he makes a speech.
And then Romney mysteriously dies [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] Though everyone worried about McCain dying but look he is still around to continue being Moderate and endearing
