• Behavior of Devin Nunes, chairman of the Trump-Russia ties threatens to endanger investigation
The House intelligence committee investigation of the Trump campaign’s alleged links with Moscow looks in danger of unravelling as a result of the unexplained behaviour of its chairman, Devin Nunes, a former Trump adviser. Such behaviour reportedly includes an unexplained disappearance from an Uber ride with a staffer on Tuesday night, described by his Democratic counterpart as a “peculiar midnight run”. The investigation subsequently appeared to stall, with Nunes calling off a critical hearing scheduled for Tuesday 28 March, at a time when his Democratic counterpart on the committee, Adam Schiff, said he had seen more than circumstantial evidence of collusion between the Trump camp and Russia. At an extraordinary committee hearing last Monday, the FBI director, James Comey, confirmed for the first time that the bureau was investigating Trump associates for possible collusion with Moscow. At the hearing, Comey refused to name any of the campaign aides under FBI scrutiny. Schiff, the ranking Democrat, said he and Nunes had been given a classified briefing that involved evidence of collusion that “isn’t purely circumstantial”.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/26/trump-russia-investigation-house-intelligence-devin-nunes I know the title is a bit grammatically wonky, but I felt it was more specific than the original.
It's only a matter of time now until we see the biggest scandal in American history since Watergate
It's only a matter of time now until we see the biggest scandal in American history since Watergate
"A Matter of Time" being "never". It's something for the administration to run around from and be made fools of, but there will not be any significant evidence other than hearsay and coincidences.
You sound so sure. Do you have insider contact or something?
I think Zilla is being as pessimistic as possible so that nobody gets their hopes up if this all turns out to be nothing. I can certainly understand why - don't count your chickens before they are hatched. We well could be in for a full four years of Trump :c
still following 20commitee, Flynn may have just flipped, FBI has him in protective custody because Russian "Suicide" tactics.
Only a single CNN analyst has even suggested he's in protective custody.
You sound so sure. Do you have insider contact or something?
It's called common sense. Nothing will happen.
It's called common sense. Nothing will happen.
If we have Russian agents influencing our elections and our top leadership, then god help us all, because the United States as we know it will be no more.
A mysterious uber ride. Seriously.
A mysterious uber ride. Seriously.
Would be hilarious if it revealed he was visiting a mistress.
The House intelligence committee investigation of the Trump campaign’s alleged links with Moscow looks in danger of unravelling as a result of the unexplained behaviour of its chairman, Devin Nunes, a former Trump adviser.
How is this even a thing? How can you be chairman of an investigation into someone that you served as an adviser to? [editline]26th March 2017[/editline]
A mysterious uber ride. Seriously.
It's not the ride itself, it's him bailing out of the car for a midnight run for no apparent reason.
How is this even a thing? How can you be chairman of an investigation into someone that you served as an adviser to?
I thought that was peculiar as well, but I suppose when you're party has the most power, you can do whatever you want...
I was just going to say isn't Nunes the leader of the committee investigating the whole Russia thing? He recently changed the next scheduled hearing for FBI director and NSA director from public to private.
It's like the TV show The Americans but it's real and takes place in 2017
It's called common sense. Nothing will happen.
Common sense does not even entail common sense anymore. If critical thinking and the burden of proof can be done without then common sense is very much dead. I feel you, the matter does rest in the hands of the powers that be without further investigation allowing the checks and balances to work their magic like they did for Nixon, and even for Nixon it took more than two years for the story to unravel and blow up. Yet, I would argue that common sense is way past its relevance as far as this administration is concerned. Perhaps I'm the one struggling with the notion of common sense here, please educate me if you will.
It's like the TV show The Americans but it's real and takes place in 2017
The creators of the show are keenly aware of the similarities. :v:
