• Games stop responding

I just built this new computer about three months ago, and ever since from the beginning all my games on steam will crash with "program stopped responding". And its just weird like I can play Empire Total war for about 10 mins and the thing will just crash, but if I play it on offline mode it won't crash for another 30-60 mins. I know that my computer isn't overheating I have checked the Idle and Load temps. I really don't know what to do anymore, I don't know if its a software or hardware problem. Specs- CPU- AMD Phenom X4 955 3.2 GPU- ATI Sapphire 5850 HDD- WD caviar black 500 GB
What operating system are you using? Have you installed the latest ATi Catalyst?
What operating system are you using? Have you installed the latest ATi Catalyst?
I'm using windows 7 64-bit, and yes I have the latest catalyst installed.
Come on guys throw me some ideas what the problem could be.
Anyone? If more info is needed ask.
That's certainly odd. It's not overheating, because then the PC would reboot, not just give you a casual error like that. Only thing I can think of that you can do is the following: Download Driver Sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ Go into safe mode, do a full ATi cleanout, reboot. Install drivers again.

That sounds really fustrating. Maybe a faulty graphics card, Check the cables
That sounds really frustrating. Maybe a faulty graphics card, Check the cables
Cables are fine and yes it is frustrating
Perhaps it's memory? Have task manager open while you play the games to see if it's memory.
Perhaps it's memory? Have task manager open while you play the games to see if it's memory.
What am I supposed to be looking at?
How much RAM is being used.
Ok, I'll try that later when I get back.
Does your computer crash when its not playing games? Is it all games? If it is then it could be a fault with the graphics card or driver.
How much RAM is being used.
43% physical memory when there is no game running Started playing Empire: Total War 53% when it was on the main menu 65% when its on the campaign map 70% when i'm in a game playing with 7 other bots Garrys mod Main menu 49% In-game 54% [editline]06:57PM[/editline]
Does your computer crash when its not playing games? That's quite a lot. How much RAM do you have?
That's quite a lot. How much RAM do you have?
I have 4 GB.
I think you need to get another 2 gig
I think you need to get another 2 gig
I already ordered it. [editline]07:09PM[/editline]
That's quite a lot. What are you running in the background if 43% (Nearly 2 gigs) is used when you're not playing a game?
It could be software then, unless one of your RAM sticks isnt correctly in.
What are you running in the background if 43% (Nearly 2 gigs) is used when you're not playing a game?
I don't have anything running in the background.
I heard that 5XXX drivers aren't that good, try looking on google for people with these kind of problems
I heard that 5XXX drivers aren't that good, try looking on google for people with these kind of problems
Yeah I know why is that?
It could be software then, unless one of your RAM sticks isnt correctly in.
The RAM is put in correctly and I hope its software and not hardware.
