I, like many others, had really bad acne as a teenager. Here's how it was around age 15:

So here are some tips I've gathered over the years on prevention and curing, even at 22 I still get small breakouts.
Prevention

I wash my face twice a day with this (first thing in the morning and in the shower / bath in the evening)

(£1 - Pound Stretcher)
and when I'm at work I use these to wipe my face a few times a day

(£1.50 - Morrisons)
Don't touch your face throughout the day, otherwise you'll be putting bacteria on it
There are plenty of other washes and wipes that do the same thing, but I found these cheap and effective
Cure
When I'm applying creams, I never use my fingers, I put it onto a cotton bud and wipe my face with that, if you have to use your fingers, apply some of this first:

(£1 (pack of 2) - Poundworld)
This is a good gel to apply three or four times throughout the day:

(£1 - Pound Stretcher)
but if you need a particular spot to be gone as soon as possible, you can buy the main ingredients separately and apply those.

(£1.50 - B&M Homestores)

(£8 - Ebay)
Apply the tea tree oil throughout the day and the salicylic acid once (it will burn, trust me).
Another cream which I've found to be good is Quinoderm

(around £2.50 - Most chemists (over the counter, must be asked for))
Of course if none of that works, you may be eligible for Accutane (which I was when I was 16), the side effects are high but the results are good.
After Care
So the acne is gone but now you're left with scars. Unfortunately for those living in countries with free healthcare, scar treatment is considered cosmetic surgery so you'll have to pay out of your own pocket.
The one I tried was Dermaroller, where small pins pierce your skin, encouraging it to regrow and therefore fill in the scars.

(Normally £500 for three sessions at a cosmetic skin care clinic)
Let me know what you use and how good it works
what do you look like now?
OP looks like teenage Link without cap.

Those marks on my face are from falling over
But the first pictures are from when I was 15, I'm 22 now
I always thought that having acne had a lot to do with touching your face and washing it, so in school I got into a habit, (if you can call it that) of not touching my face and washing it. This lad I know sits with his face resting on his hand with his index finger going up the side of his face, and he has acne on that side of his face, almost like the outline of a finger. He has it elsewhere, I just didn't know whether it had anything to do with that.
I realise some people can't help their acne, but I dunno, not touching my face seems to have worked for me. Only ever had the odd zit here and there.
The biggest thing ive found to keep my acne under control at the age of 20 is. WATER, lots of water, drink 2 liters of water in a day, when you see a breakout coming will stop it. Also not mixing caffeine and sugar. coffees fine, cake and chocolates are good. But a coke or pepsi? death sentence.
I also find using acne face wash helps like the OP suggested. Put it on a cotton ball, and scrub your face with it (be rough with it, you want to get everything off). the amount of dirt and oil that comes off of it is insane. Even when you've done it 2 times in a row.

I get a lot of breakouts around my mouth and I think it's because I drool in my sleep

I also recommend you look at the ingredients of the face washes and creams, you'll notice a lot of the cheap stuff has the same ingredients as the expensive stuff. Clearasil, Freederm, etc, are all overpriced.
5% benzoyl peroxide gel worked wonders for me. I started putting it on every second day after I shaved, acne went away overnight and stayed gone.
I still get the occasional bout of acne so I've just kept using it.
I've gotten antibiotics from a dermatologist for my acne now which works very well
I recommend
I drink way to much coke but drinking water did not have a change on my acne in comparison.
Change dem pillow covers.
Avoiding lactose reduced new formations by 90% for me. So now I only drink lactose-free milk and eat lactose-free ice cream. Also washing sheets and pollowcase frequently helps a lot.
I used to have my forehead and other random parts of my face covered in zits, so I got my hair cut so there isn't any touching my forehead, changed to a shampoo without conditioner, started avoiding touching my face (I did this a lot), and use Oxy pads (salicylic acid) 2-3 times a day
Now I only occasionally get a zit on my forehead, and more frequently little spots that could turn into zits but just disappear
Whenever I get zits there on the fringe of my eyebrows near where your nose starts. That is like the only place I get them these days and I wash my face religiously each day so I have no clue why.
Get some sandpaper and start sanding.
some fp'r actually did this tho
Somebody has to have that picture saved somewhere, it got removed from the OP of the thread :(

You are literally rolling a miniature Dark age torture machine on your face :v:

I need to try this. My biggest contributer to any sort of acne I get now is from shaving. Aside from having a stupidly sensitive face, I seem to get irritation and some pimples regularly.
Of course it could be other factors like me touching my face a bit too much, having a dirty razor, etc.
I use witch hazel after a washing my face with with soap.
I get some acne if I eat a bit too much chocolate, but fortunately a bit of clearasil for a week or so clears it right up.

Yep and you're paying for it too. Although they cover your face with numbing cream before so you don't actually feel it
Just remember to NOT use pills against it.
Used medicile methodes when I was a kid. Worked great, but made me depressive as fuck.
When I was a teen it wasn't coke or pepsi, it was dairy. Drinking a glass of milk would make me break out like I had WWIII on my face. So if any of you drink a lot of milk and have issues with acne, I highly recommend you stop drinking milk for at least 3 days and see how you do.
I'm have scars a plenty now.
Fuck those lucky cunts that never got any in school.

Shaving can cause pretty terrible breakouts. Wash your face before and after, and use some kind of acne cream after. Should take care of it.
How well did the derma roller work for you? I took accutane to clear my acne as it was pretty bad, and I'm basically acne free with a few red spots here and there (they go away with BP) but I'm left with a bit of scarring on my cheeks.
My skin is more prone to blackheads than other kinds of acne and I can't figure out what to do about it.
Other than the blackheads I don't really have a lot of acne. When I do get something else though it usually doesn't last longer than a day or two.
I use Effaclar. Expensive as shit (will put you $200 under for the two I use) but it works like a damn charm.
Broke out with some bad acne and one week later, using this stuff two times a day, it was gone. Fucking miracle product.
If you have the money I wouldn't recommend anything else. Just regular Effaclar Foaming Gel and the Duo. Stuff works so quickly.
God tier anti-acne genetics reporting in.
The trade off is I burn quicker than a metaphor.
Letting sweat sit on part of your body for an extended period of time also has a lot to do with it. I used to play football and I had acne on my forehead and cheeks from my helmet pads. After I stopped, it disappeared.

It improved them but they will never fully go. The place I went had 3 sessions for £500 but they had a deal on that was 2 sessions for £250, so I went for that.
You have one session, and then 6 weeks later have another, and then another in 6 weeks and so on.
They sell the dermarollers online if you want to have a go yourself, it will be agony without the numbing cream though (she went over a bit on my nose that wasn't fully numb and I could have cried)

Luckily my beard covers most of mine
