Okay first off i did not know where to post this but for the last two days i have been trying to repair my dad's computer. I did everything to get the Hp Recovery Partition onto another hard drive which succeeded but when I booted with it i was not able to do a system recovery and it kept giving me a error loading os error. The problem with the original hard drive was that their are several damaged sectors that made the other partition where windows will be installed unusable. I gave up on that and now I am trying to see if I can install ubuntu with a live cd. It works to the screen where i press enter and select the language but after that it just goes into sleep mode and the monitor goes to sleep. I am not 100% sure on system specs but here they are. Computer Model: Hp Pavilion a132On Cpu: Amd Anthlon X 2 Ram: 2 X 512 mb sticks of ram Hard Drive: An ide hard drive that is around 80 gbs Cd/dvd: There is a LightScribe Dvd +- writer/ cd-writer I would also like to point out that even though the screen went into standby the cd is still being read but nothing is happening besides that.

I gave up on it now...I took a hard drive from another computer running the same version of windows and everything and tested it to see if it will load...it just bsod...but when i connected it to the original...it worked fine. I just took the monitor from it and hooked it up to a laptop we have and we are just going to buy a new one when we have enough money.
