From what I can gather, one person died and the other is in critical condition. [editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
MOSCOW, January 8 (R-Sport) - An extreme sports enthusiast died and another was seriously injured when an inflatable ball they were in rolled down a snowy mountain and plunged off a cliff in southern Russia, authorities said Tuesday. The accident happened on January 3 at the mountain sports resort of Dombai in Russia's North Caucasus mountain range, the country's Investigative Committee said in a statement. A man identified as 27-year-old D. Burakov died after breaking his neck in the fall, while his acquaintance Vladimir Shcherbov, 33, was hospitalized with a concussion and multiple lacerations to the head and body. The so-called orb carrying the two men was supposed to come to a gentle halt at the bottom of a slope but veered off course, teetering on the edge of a ravine before plunging down it. The orb eventually stopped about 1 kilometer away on a frozen lake, investigators said. An investigation has been opened into criminal negligence causing death on the part of the extreme sports organizers. The maximum penalty is ten years in prison.
http://en.ria.ru/sports/20130108/178648038.html I was going to post this in sensationalist headlines but didn't feel there was enough information.
Darwin award goes too... No but seriously, who thought rolling a ball down a hill without any sort of barrier, or stoppers spread around is smart?

That looked fun as hell. Until that happened.
Looks like a fun way to go.
Holy shit that would be terrifying
Looks like a fun way to go.
Albeit painful as shit
This is the top google search result for russian zorbing accident, go figure.
I'm scared to watch.
I'm scared to watch.
Don't worry there's nothing graphic.
I wonder if they'd have been okay if the bubble didn't break, as heard on the end of the video.
Checked it out, that's mental. Such a fucking ridiculously organised thing though... "I'll just stand here and try and catch the giant, fast moving ball before it plummets off a cliff". The organisers should be charged with negligent manslaughter at least.
That must be the most scary and confusing experience for the people inside the ball
This would rank up as one of the worsts way to go ever. You are constantly trapped with no way out in a ball rolling away to its doom As far as this thing goes though why would you even want to do this? This seems like doing the teacups at the amusment park except from hell. There's no way you can go through that without being incredibly sick and throwing up all inside the ball

It was okay.
i dont get it the hill doesn't look to bad whats the deal here *it turns left* oooooooooooh
Why. Why would you do that?
The G forces inside would be rather large judging by the speed it was rolling at, That's what I would find most terrifying if I was inside, and not knowing what was happening or where I was going.
498 reading wtf
russians make wierd noises
Watching this video made me nauseous. I tried to imagine myself being in that rubber ball tumbling down the mountain.
Holy fucking shit.
498 reading wtf
Lol probably linked to some reddit or something Which is weird because you'd think they'd just link directly to the video but eh
reddit has their own threads and video links though anyways this is just sad at the start of the video I was expecting gopro footage from inside :-\
I've been in those things before Not on a hill but running around like a little hamster in a field They are cool as fuck, if I do ever go on a hill ride I'll be sure to check if the hill doesn't lead off the side of a fucking mountain
