This is Trump’s first visit to Puerto Rico since the storm ravaged the island nearly two weeks ago. “Every death is a horror, but if you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina, and you look at the tremendous — hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people that died, and you look at what happened here, with really a storm that was just totally overpowering, nobody’s ever seen anything like this,” Trump said, before turning to a local official to ask how many people had died in storm. “What is your death count as of this moment? 17? 16 people certified, 16 people versus in the thousands.” Trump then praised officials in the room over the death toll. “You can be very proud of all of your people, all of our people working together,” he said. The president also seemed to fault the small island for imperiling the United States’s budget by requiring hurricane relief funds, saying, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack.
As far as I can tell, the degenerate-in-chief was trying to compliment Puerto-Rican emergency services? Backhanded, as usual.
You know that GIF of Captain Picard doing a double facepalm? That's how I'm feeling right now.
Is this a fucking joke. It has to be him misspeaking somehow, this can't be his actual fucking opinion.
is this from the same speech where he criticized Puerto Rico for "throwing our budget out of wack"?
He spent more time bitching about the NFL and a Puerto Rican Mayor than he did empathizing with disaster victims and laying out plans/promoting efforts to send aid. And practically the first thing he said about PR shoehorned in a snide, out-of-place comment about the territory's vast debts -- as if completely ignorant of the fact that as the President that's his responsibility now.
is this from the same speech where he criticized Puerto Rico for "throwing our budget out of wack"?
The very same.
Mueller's gotta be closing in if they let him loose for a speech.
I swear every time I think I can’t hate this guy more he comes out and says shit like this.
Understand that the morgues outside of the metropolitan area are currently filled and they aren't accounted for in those numbers. It also doesn't count the 20 plus people that have died due to lack of power for respirators and a lack of medical supplies in general. They are people currently with dead people in their house that can't bring them anywhere due to lack of fuel. Many parts of the island are still completely unaccounted for . That number will rise, the government has already said so. So trump. You have managed to argue to the face of the People in PR who just passed through the worst natural disaster in over a 100 years that it wasn't as bad as another natural Disaster just because the body count is lower Respectfully telling you to eat shit you fucking cunt mister president Also thanks for not letting me get to my house due to closed roads.
when I see headlines like these I think, good thing I'm not american because I'd have voted for Trump and felt really stupid now
There are people who consistently defend this guy. Just a grim reminder.
how do you keep fucking up this bad is he trying to bury some other bullshit that's happened today under drama again? What else happened today related to the government?
It's like telling Little Jimmy that you're proud of him not losing his entire leg to a lawn mower, unlike Billy, then turning around and scolding him for costing you money for medical expenses while patting yourself on the back for good parenting. "Only lost most of your foot and part of your ankle? Good boy! I mean, it's not a real injury like Billy's, and you did cost us a pretty penny to put it back together, but I really am a great dad, huh?"
how do you keep fucking up this bad is he trying to bury some other bullshit that's happened today under drama again? There is a line where being unfiltered quits being cool and starts being a telltale sign of idiocy. Some would argue that sign is immediate..
how do you keep fucking up this bad is he trying to bury some other bullshit that's happened today under drama again? What else happened today related to the government?
When you've been a cunt for as long as he has, it comes naturally.
The president also seemed to fault the small island for imperiling the United States’s budget by requiring hurricane relief funds, saying, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack.
Imagine if he had said this about a state.
Imagine if he had said this about a state.
tbh I could see him saying precisely that to a safely blue state. "I hate to tell you, California, but you've thrown our budget a little out of whack after that earthquake." Followed by a campaign rally where he gets cheers from his cult-worship crowd by inventing a scenario where he'd get a hippie fired, as if California is still primarily known for being full of hippies.
Worst President in history? Worst President in history.
The president also seemed to fault the small island for imperiling the United States’s budget by requiring hurricane relief funds, saying, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack.
Is anyone still trying to deny that this guy is a thinly veiled racist? I'd like to see him try and be this much of an asshole to his voterbase.
Remove this fucking idiot from office immediately.
Is anyone still trying to deny that this guy is a thinly veiled racist? I'd like to see him try and be this much of an asshole to his voterbase.
He's not a racist, he's a race realist! Those are totally different things!
I'm usually as anti-Trump as they come, but I think it's pretty clear he meant that they had done a better job at handling the aftermath of the storm than was done following Katrina, not that their hurricane didn't matter as much. He just really shouldn't be allowed to go off script because he's a terrible speaker.
I feel like our country will never recover our reputation in the world after Trump
“You can be very proud of all of your people, all of our people working together,” he said..
Notice how he makes the "us" and "them" distinction when Puerto Ricans are American citizens.
Notice how he makes the "us" and "them" distinction when Puerto Ricans are American citizens.
Someone asked earlier: does he know?

If he'd been proud of the handling he'd say "You guys have done a tremendous job with the relief here in Puerto Rico, I wish we'd had you guys to help back when Katrina devastated the mainland" Instead he said "a real catastrophe like Katrina"
Yeah see I don't agree. It's like he's trying to compliment them only because he has to, but his degenerate mind can't keep his true intent slipping out. For anyone else, we'd give 'em the benefit of the doubt. But given all of Trump's actions combined, we already know where he stands.

I think he's actually trying to tell us that even though "every death counts" it's to the credit of the workers that fewer died than in Katrina. A "real catastrophe" could be both referring to Katrina and the handling of that storm, and he is, after all, also saying in the same sentence that the storm is like nothing no one's ever seen before. Either way, it's insane that you have to pick his words apart like you're trying to understand a toddler. It's so obvious that he's just rambling off without knowing where the fuck he's going, falling back to his usual catchphrases - turns out "tremendous" doesn't work in every sentence, though. In the article there's a clip as well where he's just complimenting what a great job everyone including himself have done. I think that's what he's trying to get across.
