I live in Malmö. For some reason people, like the OP, seem to think this is the worst place ever. All cities have bad neighborhoods. Still terrible that this happened, but honestly, what did he expect? Raising a flag in a time like this with all of the kidnappings and shit happening in Israel. Even if most people are tolerant, there will always be some few who aren't. We kind of dislike nationalists of any kind though, it's seen as a very bad thing to raise a Swedish flag and raising another country's flag is at times more accepted :v:

Afaik, there was some news article or something about Malmö a while back, saying that anti-Jewish feelings run high in just Malmö, or something along those lines. Pretty sure they interviewed a few of them and they all said the same thing; They were called names, spat on etc, so this shouldn't really come as a surprise. I'll see if I can find it again.

In France it's straight up forbidden to display a flag for any country to avoid this sort of incident with an exception made for sports events and such. I guess it's mostly to avoid stupid incidents such as this. (Still a stupid law though)
