Hello, I'm about to upgrade my current pc with some new components, this is what I have right now:
Q6600
HD6870
4GB RAM 667mhz
I'm about to get a new motherboard and an i5 2500K. My question is, should I also upgrade my RAM from 667mhz to DDR3-1333mhz or will it not matter that much? I'm kinda low on budget so I only want to upgrade the things I'll really need.
And my other question, will my Corsair 550Watt (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMPSU-550VX-550-Watt-Certified-compatible/dp/B000WU2FGK) be able to power my new rig sufficiently, or will I have to get a better one?
550w is enough, check the effeciency on it or link the PSU itself.
Also you'll probably need to get new ram anyway as the one you have (667) is most likely DDR2 and 1155 (2500k) only supports DDR3
Oh alright, thanks. But what do you mean exactly by the effiency? I've heard that some lower Watt PSU's are better than higher one's because of the rails or something? But I have no idea what they are. This is the PSU btw (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMPSU-550VX-550-Watt-Certified-compatible/dp/B000WU2FGK) (just noticed I typed Antec in the topic, it's actually a Corsair).
PSUs will usually have a certification on them regarding their efficiency; some won't though, and those are the ones you want to avoid

The PSU you linked is an 80 PLUS
Aye, the PSU you linked is more than fine, get some DDR3 1333mhz, there's no noticeable difference from 1600mhz and you're set.
Enjoy!

Is that good? I read the link but I'm still not sure if it'll support it. This'll probably be my new rig:
ASRock P67 Pro3
i5 2500K
HD6870
Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333mhz
Corsair 550Watt
Edit: Missed your post David, thanks a lot, I'm going for it.
Go for it mate, enjoy the sandy.
