My gateway desktop is fucked up, and I would like some of your reccomendations on a cheap (around $300) desktop computer that can run source games relatively well. Sorry if this is the wrong section.
what do you mean by fucked? whats wrong with it
Pepper;23384491']what do you mean by fucked? whats wrong with it
I don't know, system 32 error and the disk I put in to fix it didn't work. And then it ate the disk, and I can't get the disk out.
-If you want to try and fix it you should post in technical support. -If you want to buy a new system or upgrade your current post in PC building. I higly doubt you can buy annything good for 300. Get 500 and try again.
Well, it just so happens that my budget has increased by $200, but I'll go post in PC building.

Youll need a decent cpu (2.66ghz+ dual?) and a 512mb graphics card, my 9600gt runs all source games great, so get something along those lines.
a simple reformat will do could throw in a upgrade or two while at it specs? [editline]01:36AM[/editline]
Youll need a decent cpu (2.66ghz+ dual?)
lol my little atom box with a HD4650 can max out TF2 without breaking a sweat
TF2 isn't demanding most of the time. I can run it on my $399 sub-notebook (Asus 1201T).

If you are building a new one then reformat the gateway and sell on eBay/craiglist/etc... just a little extra dosh for the parts
Core 2 Duo and Nvidia 8800 runs source games on full settings at 60fps, if you want to be cheap.

Even the worst piece of shit you will find in the computer store these days can run TF2 on medium
Core 2 Duo + GeForce 240 + 4GB DDR2 800 = $500 of Source gaming goodness.
Build your own, A core 2 duo, a nice 9800gt or a Geforce 240 and 2 or 4 gb of ram at 800mhz, you'l be gaming.
even a 9600gt can do it
