The Nexus 4 just got a lot cheaper. The flagship phone of Google's Nexus line is now available for a full $100 less than it was just hours ago. The 8GB model is on sale through the Google Play Store for $199, while the 16GB model is $249. There's no mention of a newer Nexus smartphone, but the Nexus line itself is certainly due for some sort of update. When the Nexus 4 was introduced last year it was already lacking in one major way — LTE connectivity — and since its introduction the Android ecosystem has continued to churn out multiple competitors. Not only that, but the Nexus 4 isn't the only way to get the stock Android experience at this point, either; the "Google Play" editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One provide something very close to the same software, albeit at much higher prices.
Wish this happened earlier, otherwise my dad would have one of these, and not a shitty walmart brand smartphone that has less processing power than that of a calculator.
Aw yeah, now im only $194 short of buying this thing
Why would anyone order Rice Krispies online
Why would anyone order Rice Krispies online
Why not
Why would anyone order Rice Krispies online
They're cheaper online from what I can tell.
Best phone out there next to the HTC One (which is now $400 more expensive).
While I'm suddenly very interested in upgrading my S2, it would also mean I would have to get a new SIM card due to size (I think - I can't cut those up right?).
Maybe I can convince my mom to buy one of these instead of an expensive iPhone 5 v:v:v
Is it that price WHEN you pay for a plan too? I can't keep unlim. data unless I pay full price for a phone. Note 2 took $899 of my savings because my other phone was destroyed in a car accident.
I wonder where The Verge got that picture from, that's one riced out Android setup.
I might pick up one of these next time I get a phone. I've never had a good time dealing with Apple.
Why would anyone order Rice Krispies online
I have a friend who buys everything from toothpaste to clothes on the internet. Basically, he only gets food that will spoil from the store, buys in bulk on the net, and that's it.
I have a friend who buys everything from toothpaste to clothes on the internet. Basically, he only gets food that will spoil from the store, buys in bulk on the net, and that's it.
How much does he save doing that?
Honestly, I have no idea. I think he does it more out of convenience since he doesn't own or want a car and walks everywhere. I like how 8 GB translates into $50 extra. I had no idea those pesky gigabytes were so expensive! Oh but don't worry, I've already got a 16 gigabyte miniSD card that I can put in there to expand the memory. I'll just slide that miniSD card right in and away we go! Because it's not like modern-day cellular devices wouldn't feature a basic memory card slot just to score some extra cash out of their customers. Oh wait, there isn't, and I don't feel like spending an extra $50 bucks for something that costs $15, because, you know, principles.
And this happens like a month after I got mine. :v:

If only N4 had SD card slot.. Still, it's so damn cheap and better than Samsung shovels.
An absolute steal for what the phone's specs are.
Let me know of a phone that is nearly as good as the Nexus 4 at the $200/$250 price point? Exactly. Nice to see you're still around to rate people dumb Kaabii.
I assume you don't own an iPhone for that same reason?
I don't own the iPhone because it's a phone that doesn't really fit what I need out of a phone. It does for most people, and I don't think the iPhone is bad - I just like having the extra customization options and freedom to do more with my phone. Yes, an SD card slot does fall into that category, but the bigger picture is it's extremely closed off and so deadset in what it is that I wouldn't want to have one without hacking the hell out of it. I do get angry at this because the reason why I turn to Android is I want more out of a phone - I want more than what the iPhone is capable of - and for some reason I feel like this phone is giving me less. It's something many people find miniscule, but I find absolutely infuriating. It's 2013 and the newest Android phone on the block doesn't support SD card, and they're charging $50 for 8 extra gigs. That's honestly stupid, and out of principle I seriously don't have interest in this phone. It's way too big of a flaw for me. And for anyone wondering, I do have a Galaxy Nexus. It's the original and my dad and I got a couple for less than $50 each. The phones I was looking at weren't on the table, so the Galaxy Nexus was what we could agree on, and it's not a bad phone. I like the Nexus line of phones. I don't like that how they don't have SD card slots because literally the only reason why they would do that is just money.
It's 2013 and the newest Android phone on the block doesn't support SD card
probably because 90% of people don't use it
Accept the fact that MicroSD is being phased out and most top phones don't adopt them.
What's going to replace SD cards then? because they're pretty useful.
Bought mine at launch, brilliant phone. Gotta keep it safe though, apparently fragile as fuck. The camera is lacking - really not that great
Accept the fact that MicroSD is being phased out and most top phones don't adopt them.
That's totally fine. I get that. But when you start charging $50 for an extra 8 gigs, you're not going to see me as a customer. Either: a.) Provide miniSD card support b.) Provide a fair amount of space for a fair price (aka $15 for an extra 8 gigs would be fine) c.) Be douchy and set the prices according to some self-made self-benefiting scale
What's going to replace SD cards then? because they're pretty useful.
Most people have access to WiFi/3G/4G data ALL the time and unless you're hoarding FLACs or movies on your phone, you shouldn't have a problem. Don't have enough data to stream music and watch videos? I don't understand why when there's plenty of prepaid options that offer unlimited voice/data/text for $50. [editline]28th August 2013[/editline]
That's totally fine. I get that. But when you start charging $50 for an extra 8 gigs, you're not going to see me as a customer.
Feel free to spend $599+ on a flagship device with expandable storage then.
Nexus 4 owner here, if you do buy one, be incredibly careful with it, seriously, I put mine in my pocket, pulled it out, back smashed, it fell one foot onto the ground, screen smashed and costs almost as much as the phone to replace, so invest in a good case.
Because I'd rather listen to my music at full quality. I don't FLAC's one bit, but I do try to get either V0 or 320 kbps CBR MP3's. Streaming my music library over the net is a bit of an issue if I hit a dead spot in the city, and I sacrifice half of the audio quality. (Last I checked the streaming was either 128 kbps or less.)

You could easily store hundreds of songs if you offloaded your pictures to a PC or cloud service (like you're supposed to regularly). You don't need 16GB of storage. It's just a preference and it's why I purchased mine. Yeah, it could be cheaper but they're already losing money on these phones or selling them at bare minimum costs.
