Apparently, this is not a fan-made creation. Apparently, this is a Sony-made one. Granted, this could very well be another slick Photoshop, but this week Sony is expected to unveil the new PlayStation Portable, which is currently being called the PSP2. As the reveal approaches, this art work surfaced online today on 2ch, Japan's largest online forum. The photo features a handheld believed to be the PSP2, which has a PSPgo style sliding shell. There is a 32 GB SD memory card as well, plus a "PSP2" memory stick. There is a long, thin stylus as well. Unlike the current PSP, there are two analog nubs, giving this handheld a controller layout similar to the PS3. What is fishy about the picture is that it appears to be a photograph of a handout of some kind. While handouts may be present at the January 27 press conference, it's also a good way for a Photoshopper to hide their work, as it masks any differences in resolution you'd be able to detect in an online image. Official Sony art is typically at a higher resolution, but this art is not, which also sends off alarm bells. The buttons and the d-pad look to be at a slightly different resolution. The copyright in the bottom left, which appears on official Sony images, is cut off, too. Likewise, odd. However, as mentioned above, this purported PSP2 image could be photo taken of official Sony art or of an official Sony handout, hence these resolution inconsistencies. The thumbsticks are in a different location from photos that appeared last fall of what is supposedly the PSP2. Last October, Kotaku broke the news that the PSP2 will ditch the UMD format and could very well rival the Xbox 360 in horsepower. Whether or not it is real, won't be known for sure if and when the rumored PSP2 is finally made public. However, Kotaku is reaching out to Sony and will update this post should the company comment.
It looks legit to me. Sony is expected to reveal it later this month anyway, so we'll know really soon whether it's real or not. It's likely that it is, and it's also very likely that Sony will have yet another device leaked before a conference (PS3 slim).
So Sony rips off even more ideas from other companies and tries to pass it as original.
I can't wait till they announce a new PSP, then I get to choose between the 3DS or PSP2.
Finally two analog sticks after 3-4 different models.
it looks like the PSP go but as long as I get more Metal Gear
Alright no more retarded moving and aiming bullshit.
According to Sony, it's supposed to be like as powerful/more powerful than the PS3.
According to Sony, it's supposed to be like as powerful/more powerful than the PS3.
Well fuck, I'm reading this as I use my netbook what the fuck.
According to Sony, it's supposed to be like as powerful/more powerful than the PS3.
um yea sure
OK so I misread it the other day, but it's not Sony per-say, but "reporters". I just googled it and got these soruces: http://www.gamingunion.net/news/psp2-is-as-powerful-as-ps3-says-codemasters--3753.html http://atomstack.com/sony-psp2-reportedly-as-powerful-as-playstation-3-and-its-portable/229313 http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20110113204308_Sony_PSP2_As_Powerful_As_PlayStation_3_Available_in_Q4_Rumours.html http://ingame.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/01/24/5909105-sonys-psp-2-will-have-3g-touch-screen-super-powers Apparently it is also very likely to have an OLED screen and it is reported to be as powerful as PS3. To think about it, it's going to launch (most likely) at the end of this year, making it something that will be popular first in 2012. 2012 technology SHOULD match the PS3 and have OLED and 3G or 4G internet connectivity. Also, the PSP has PS2-like graphics, I would expect the PSP2 to do what the PSP did, but better, and get the PS3 graphics right on there.
So Sony rips off even more ideas from other companies and tries to pass it as original.
yeah man who the fuck do they think they are taking the basic concepts of a handheld touchscreen multimedia device and creating their own.
um yea sure
is that so hard to believe? It won't be that powerful, but to think it's not going to be powerful is stupid. Do you even know anything about technology today?
I'm so fucking getting this when it comes out. It better run UMDs though. There are still a ton of games out there that aren't in the PSN store, such as the best PSP series ever: Monster Hunter.
PSP was only a bit more powerful than PS1 as far as I knew the small screen let it run ps2-esque games
That looks like Sony's new phone. Whatever the hell it's called this time...
Hope it's affordable, somehow I bet it's gonna be really fucking expensive.
According to Sony, it's supposed to be like as powerful/more powerful than the PS3.
it said the xbox 360 in the article, not the PS3.
Hope it's affordable, somehow I bet it's gonna be really fucking expensive.
I highly doubt that Sony would make the same mistake it did with the PSP, and that is making it twice as expensive as the DS was. I expect it run $250-300 no more, since the 3DS will be $250 as confirmed by Nintendo.

Looks so amazing, I want it.
I thought Sony also made that same mistake with the PS3 on release?
Yeah I suppose. It's never over-priced though, since the PS3 had a fucking bluray player, and the 360 obviously didn't. Totally worth the extra $100. Same thing with the PSP, it was a lot more powerful than the DS, but the DS actually had games and it had a touch screen, so it automatically won the handheld war. I'm sure the PSP2 is twice as powerful as the 3DS, but the 3D is going to be a no-brainer when it comes to predicting which handheld will rule. I really don't care if the 3DS had GCN graphics and the PSP2 had PS3 graphics, I'm totally getting the 3DS (mainly because of the games not the 3D.. although glasses-free 3D sounds awesome and I can't wait to try it).
I thought Sony also made that same mistake with the PS3 on release?
It had a blu-ray player and it was several hundreds of dollars cheaper than JUST a blu-ray -player. That was pretty much the only reason its release price made any sense.
Looks like the PSP Phone. So it's either shopped from that, or that's the theme they're going with now.
it said the xbox 360 in the article, not the PS3.
They've also said it's as powerful as the PS3 and a developer at Codemasters said this is true. I personally doubt that.
Bluray UMDs :science:
Sony wouldn't have been raped so much by the DS if it had just launched with A FUCKING RIGHT ANALOGUE STICK.
Oh wow. This looks pretty awesome. Although, the only thing I'm really worried about is the price.
Well now I'm actually interested in this thing.
A stylus? Really?
Seems interesting, but did you really have to put four exclamation marks in the title? make it look like a twelve year old found something on YouTube and posted it here. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] also, everyone rips off Nintendo
