• Do all 2.5" drives fit all laptops?

Hey, I am replacing my HDD on laptop (Dell inspiron n5110), never did it so just wondering do all 2.5" hard drives fit all laptops? My current one is Seagate, it's about 1 cm thick. I found WD Blue WD5000LPVX, but it's thickness is 0.76 Cm. Will it still fit? It has bracked around it too from laptop.
Just make sure to check the thickness of the drive is correct. I once bought a 2.5" Drive for a laptop that was 2mm too thick and wouldn't fit.
Not all drives fit. Like kaukassus said, the height sometimes varies. However, for the most part they're all around the same size, 9.5mm. Some are taller (12.5mm), some are smaller (5mm, 7mm), but most are 9.5mm. Smaller drives should fit fine into a larger bay, since the mounting screws are all on the bottom or sides. If it's just sitting, with no screws, then you might want to find an exact size match, so it doesn't rattle around.

But yeah the one currently installed is basically floating by being in bolted to bracked which has it's screw holes standing on motherboard screw holes. so I guess there should be no complications? Also keep in mind with some laptops where the drive is mounted on a tray inserted from the side (e.g. inspiron 1545), 7mm drives can be tricky to fit properly due to the empty space preventing the ports from lining up
